The true face of the UK metal underground has finally clawed its way onto the festival map and no amount of imported Euro or US talent can plaster over the wound! --- "A festival which can truly claim to be created by fans for fans, Damnation ventures down paths few dare to tread, simulating a seething slew of a metal violence not seen since the days Ozzy could throw a wife punch... --- "British steel, from extreme death metal to modern hardcore, unites for the sold-out inaugural Damnation Festival. And after the final chords are torn out from a tormented Raging Speedhorn guitar to cap off a perfect display, the feeling of being at the birth of something great is much more tangible than the passing of it." Virtual Festivals
"Another giant nail in the coffin of corporate rock" Terrorizer
"This isn't a festival for scenes and trends, this is Damnation Festival and it rocks!" Mille Petrozza, Kreator
"It was a pleasure to play Damnation Festival, a festival which had enough balls to bring us back to the UK and put us on a stage. Thank you." Casey Chaos, Amen
"Last night was absolute fucking beautiful mayhem. 800 people showed up for the Damnation fest, selling the place out. We'd like to thank all the bands and all the people who were involved in making it great. "To all the metalheads who showed up - you are sick! It was amazing chaos crowdsurfing slamdance singalong metal insanity in all it's ragged glory and hugs and kisses all around the house. Thank you! "If this is what we're looking forward to for the upcoming shows... Sweet as as pie! "Fuck yes! Burn, crush, and in general - just fuckin rage on!" Peter Dolving, The Haunted
"Damnation is one of the best festivals in the UK and the fact that it's growing in popularity and has moved to a bigger venue this year just goes to prove that." Ben Frost, Stampin' Ground/Romeo Must Die
German thrash titans DESTRUCTION and Romanian black metallers NEGURA BUNGET are the latest additons to this year's Damnation Festival. They'll be joined by Stoke-On-Trent's sludge veterans CHARGER in creating chaos over three stages at Leeds University Union on Saturday, October 24.
And Destruction are looking forward to thrashing Leeds, they said: "Destruction looks forward to playing at Damnation Festival in October. This festival appearance will be Destruction's first and maybe only UK show in the year 2009. This is why the band is especially excited about bringing back their Thrash Anthems to Great Britain and hope to see all their fans there!"
The trio will further add diversity to a bill which already includes Therapy?, Rotting Christ, This Will Destroy You and a farewell show from the mighty Mistress.
And according to Negura Bunget's, Negru, their UK exclusive performance at Damnation will be a special event. He said: "We are happy to be back in the UK, and we are planning to surprise the audience at Damnation Festival. Be there and enjoy a special performance!"
DAMNATION FESTIVAL is the product of a group of disillusioned fans fed up with watered down pop-rock taking the place of home-grown heavy metal talent on stages across the UK - we aim to address the balance.
You'll often hear us banging the drum that this is an event "for the fans, by the fans" - but it can't be put any simpler than that.
No suits behind the scenes, no money making master-plan and no agenda other than to host a festival bill worth stripping to the waist and rubbing against sweaty headbangers for!
