DSD was founded in the beginning of 2002 by Sinox (lead vocals) and Corun (guitars/vocals). A few ideas for songs – based on the music of the masterminds of original northern black-metal – turned into a wild curiosity in a great pace, following the quick arrival of Vyrn (guitars) and Sacrun (keyboards). DSD started to explore the verges of the style. After many hardships and a one-year abscence of Corun, the first tunes could finally be recorded in 2004, on the demo entitled ’Hide from Daylight’.
As it later became usual, the next pieces were already written by the time this demo reached underground audiences – released by the band. Soon, in the summer of 2005, three songs were picked from the great amount of new material, and were taken to a bigger studio where the band met its first professional sound engineer, (Viktor ’MAX’ Scheer), whom with DSD works till this very day. ’The Growing Spirit Ep’ received pleasant feedbacks from Hungarian on-line magazines and the press. The band booked more and more gigs and started to make its way through the local underground. However, the music couldn’t easily find its place in the media of extreme metal. Partly thanks to this situation, DSD decided not to go with the flow, but to expand its boundaries instead. Mixing of elements of styles became a regular method, and DSD was aiming towards an overall, global idea of creating music. After two more years of experimenting and evolving, the group decided to record an album which would serve as an inventory of the past five years. The production of the new material took for over a year, but in the fall of 2008, the ’Weird Constellations Lp’ was finally finished. It shows the motivation of DSD well. The urge to make something fresh and unusual. It should be considered as a first step towards a high concept that makes the band work: personal, emotional, conceptional music without repetition that invades the depths of the mind, but is also entertaining. DSD travels on a conscious, imaginary road of fantasy. And it will do so as long as the journey takes.
