Since emerging onto the Midwest music scene in 2003, Damon Dotson’s demand and popularity have soared. Dotson, who grew up in Okoboji, IA has definitely earned his acclaim from his humble beginnings. He would play backyard parties, graduations, birthdays, living rooms, and to just about anyone who was willing to listen! Often he would travel great distances for no audience and very little pay just to spread his music. However, all of his hard work is paying off! Damon, who now has a religious fan following, is known to pack college venues every time he plays. “It’s normally packed, but for a Damon Dotson show; we’ll draw full capacity,” said one club manager in Ames, IA. Damon is versatile in his performances and songwriting by performing not only as a solo acoustic act, but also with his full band. One reviewer from the Des Moines Register wrote that he has, “the curly locks of Jim Morrison but more of a warmly romantic sound that veers between Dave Matthews and Coldplay.” Dotson has put out one demo, one full studio album, and one live album over the past three and a half years. “Dotson’s naturally strong, clear pipes are his greatest strength,” raved one review of his studio album. Damon has played top venues in Minneapolis, Mankato, MN, Omaha, NE, Okoboji, Ames, IA, Cedar Falls, IA, Chicago, IL, Moline, IL, Iowa City, IA., Des Moines, IA, Sioux Falls, SD., and Sioux City, IA. Damon has continued to add more and more venues and diehard fans that are known to sing every word along with him at the shows. Dotson’s tireless work ethic, respect, and dedication to his craft have paid off for this very talented young artist. Damon was a top 100 finalist in the 2005 Midwest Independent Music Competition. For instance was voted TOP SOLO PERFORMANCE on HYPERLINK "http://www.ourstage.com/"www.ourstage.com for the month of October 2007 with the solo version of his song “Atmosphere.” He was also voted as TOP REGIONAL POP SONG for his song “Good night.” Dotson has opened for acts such as B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Matt Nathanson, The Gin Blossoms, The Beach Boys, Kenny Loggins, Tristan Prettyman, Stephan Kellogg and the Sixers, as well as regional favorite GB Leighton. Damon has also sang the National Anthem in Hilton Colisium for Iowa State University. Damon's new album release "Stars & Bars" is already being noticed. An industry insider said "... everything's got a great vibe and is well-balanced. They will buy this record in huge numbers." Always striving for something bigger and better, Damon is relentless when it comes to his music career. Damon Dotson is truly a unique artist that blends extreme talent with hard work and dedication.

With strong ties to Cedar Falls, Iowa City, and Dubuque, DSA is quickly gaining momentum across the state. And with a strong showing during The HuB's Battle of the Bands, its easy to see why. They are joined by another BOTB weekly winner Slip Silo. 2 great bands on 1 great night!
