Hi, I'm Damon. I play saxophones, clarinets and flutes. I write music and I like to play music that I write. I also play for and with a lot of other people in different settings. This page is mostly about my music. If you would like to know what else I do, drop me a line.
"We Are Large" is my second CD as a leader. It has eleven original tracks that present my unique take on what jazz is. What does that mean? In today's music world, labels get thrown around all the time. It is hard to keep up, so to "give it to you straight" my music emphasizes melody, groove and communication. Four reasons why you should care: 1) you get to hear "Hill Country", my Salute to the year I spent in Houston, TX. 2) you get to check out Adam, Nate, Tim, and Evan. 3) someone once said my music had personality (See review). 4) someone also once said "you done wrong by me my man" (See website).
I’ve recently published a book of transcriptions of solos by Chris Potter and thought you might be interested. To check it out and/or buy the book, check out www.ajkluth.com Thanks!
I coached the high school sax section last Thursday. Thanks for the referal. We'll see if they want me to come back. Hope the two students I sent your way, will work out.
never, will you ever ... not in a million years ... get the cup back that you just left in my car -- i'm going to finish your milk shake and then take the cup with me to adjuicate some jazz kids in texas to get a trophy
