Dana Carly Andrews--- words, voice, background, love.
Influences
A good cup of tea, autumn, the chase, art, restlessness, conversation, panic, strangers, hope, spoken word, that falling feeling, & the beauty all around.
Ani Difranco, Damien Rice, Owen, Shane Koyczan, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver, Joni Mitchell, Ryan Masters, Sam Beam, & Craig Cardiff.
& also: my sisters, my mother, & obviously the dates & walks away.
Dana Carly likes to sing & build music from memories, or things she makes up in her head.
She likes cheese on toast & long drives.
My new demo: Finch is available at CD Plus & at Random Play! Both located on Barrington Street in Halifax.
(If you want a CD, & you are far away, send a message my way, & we'll work something out! & for bookings, email me: dana.carly@hotmail.com. ---- I would put my number up, too, but this is the internet. Let's be serious.)
"Another Ontario singer-songwriter has brought her raw talent to Halifax. Unintentionally following the trail of Jill Barber before her, 21-year-old Dana Carly Andrews has drawn limitless inspiration from her loves and losses, both in Halifax and back home. At her free show Friday night at Minstrels, the singer-artist-actor might just break your heart with lyrics taken from 24 diaries kept daily since junior high. "You're my humiliation at 13, finding the boys in the schoolyard reading love letters right out of my purse," she croons in one toe-tappin' tune off her self-released album, Finch. Andrews already has an international fan base, but hipsters who attend her show can say, one year from now, they heard her before she made it big." - Hilary Beaumont, The Coast
Oh, & hey--- thanks for listening.

hey, so we just wanted to give you a free download of ours since you've been our buddy on myspace. pick it up at www.purevolume.com/arden and def let us know what you think. it's called "a slow spiral geoffrey" and it'll be on our new album. we'd love to hear your thoughts.
No charge? that's interesting. I know some people who booked a fundraiser there. The venue itself doesn't charge the $100, but they make you use their sound guy, who charges the hundred. and yeah, Ginger's would have been raaaad... sigh. I'd be into the Company house for sure though if that $100 wasn't there.
The Company House would be great, but that'll be $100. I've not yet been to Tribeca... Any idea what the rental cost is like there? Gus' would be ok, too, but I feel like it's mostly a punk/indie scene, might be harder to get folks out on a singer-songwriter bill. Thoughts?
Hey miss! Glad to hear you're an Owen fan, I think that show is going to be wild. I'd love to do a show with you sometime this summer! What kinda venue would you be into?
Thanks for plugging in! I really appreciate all your kind words. I'll be releasing my first full length album this summer on all major digital music retailers (iTunes, AmazonMP3, Napster, etc. )
