Bassoonist Dana Jessen (b. 1983) is a versatile musician embracing all periods of music while focusing on the development and performance of contemporary music and improvisation. Dana can be seen performing at a variety of venues including Boston’s Jordan Hall, DC's Velvet Lounge, Amsterdam's Zaal 100 and New York City’s The STONE club. Her passion and dedication to music of all forms has led to collaborations with musicians throughout the world. She has performed in concert with the Harvard Group for New Music, Callithumpian Consort, Circus of Saints, Anthony Coleman's Retake Iowa, Joe Morris Ensemble and the Sonic Circus Electroacoustic Trio. Dana is the recent recipient of a 2008 - 2009 J. William Fulbright Fellowship for studies in Amsterdam where she continues to make her home as an HSP Huygens Foundation Fellow.

Wow. Congratulations on the Fulbright, that's amazing. That's great that the scene is good there.
Mills is going well. I'm not taking any classes with Roscoe right now, which is a bummer, but he's around a little bit and very easy to get in touch with so I've met with him a couple times. Overall the school has its ups and downs. My classes are generally very good. Its not very strong performance-wise, but the Bay Area has some interesting musicians, and I'd say the scene is pretty good. Actually, I would definitely say that the local creative scene here is much more cohesive and has more venues than Boston. Anyway, good to hear from you.
