I was born in Bastrop Louisiana, to the loving, wonderful
parents, Dan and Martha Burks. I started singing before the age
of 9. I asked my parents if I could learn to play the piano when I
was 9 and that began the awesome career that has taken me to
all parts of the US, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Virgin Islands
and Cayman Islands. I moved to Nashville TN in 1995, began
singing demos and performing around town, became a staff
vocalist/ performer at the Nashville Country Showcase every
Saturday nite before the Midnight Jamboree at the TX Troubadour
Theatre. I opened shows for T Graham Brown, Shanendoah,
Clarence Carter and Tyler England, among others. I've had vocal
training from Rene Grant Williams (former students: Garth, Tim,
Faith, Lila McCann, many others), and I, too, teach Vocal and
Piano lessons. From 1999 until August of 2005, me & my band
toured the US full time, working 40-45 weeks per year, performing
at large dance clubs, casinos, festivals and cruise ships. I recorded
3 CD projects with Willow Wind Records producer/husband Larry
Wilson. Those CDs can be heard/purchased at WWW.CDBABY.COM
and also at WWW.WILLOWWINDPRODUCTIONS.COM/DANA_JORDAN.HTML . If you listen to the other artists on the WillowWind site, you will also
hear me singing the background vocals on those projects.
Finally, in August, 2005, it was time for a much needed change
in the direction my career was going. I had traveled enough-
I started gigging around Nashville, and in late November, took
a house band gig at The Lighthouse in Hendersonville TN. The
band I joined was called The Hit Men! We played Classic Rk,
Oldies Rk, Blues, Country, R&B-- a nice variety of music for all
ages. In February 2006, The Lighthouse closed its' doors and we
started booking dates in & around the Nashville area. Since I
wasn't a "Hit MAN", we changed the band's name to Dana Jordan
and Company, and although there have been some changes in
band membership, we are still playing every weekend. In 2006,
I recorded several projects with KMA records, in Madison TN.
One of these recordings includes my first GOSPEL project since
the early 1990s! Many of the songs from last year's projects
have charted in the top 20 overseas, for which I am very proud.
If you have a moment to go & visit my personal website, WWW.DANAJORDANMUSIC.COM, you will hear other artists that
I have produced, as we have been in the studio this past year
working on their material. I wear many hats in the music business
and I owe my talents to God. He has blessed me more than words
can ever tell and He continues to be my Lighthouse every day of
my life. If you are interested in recording with someone you can
trust, feel free to give me a call or email me. I will be straight-
forward and honest with you about your future in the music biz
and if you have the talent, we will make some awesome music
together! Also, if you are interested in voice or piano lessons, be
sure and call me! 615-868-8924. Thanks alot for stopping by today!
