I've been told I sound like a cross between Anne Willson, Natalie Cole, Donna Summer and David Lee Roth... But that's pretty unique woudn't you say!
Born and raised to the age of 10 in Chicago, Ill., she had her first taste of show biz at age 7 when Dana was chosen out of a crowd of hundreds to compete on Bozos circus. She threw the ball into 4 out of 6 buckets, had plenty of TV exposure, and won so many wonderful prizes. The entertainment bug also bit her after being stopped by schoolmates who recognized her in the hallways the next day; she wanted to continue this sensation! When she and her family made the long journey to California, with hardly a penny in their pocket, Dana longed to become a singer, an actress, a model and a dancer or all of the above. She hoped for a better life for the whole family.
Knight, who (2004) was chosen as one of the top 14 semi-finalists in LA for the role of Shirley Partridge in the reality show IN SEARCH OF THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY practices her singing (her passion) as much as possible. She began showcasing her talents in such musicals as Oklahoma, Tom Sawyer, and also starred in The Wizard of Oz as Dorothy at the age of 13. She continued with many other musicals and had a full schedule of fine arts during her senior year at Tracy High School, in Tracy California. After High School, she joined the all-female rock band MISCHIEF and toured the San Francisco Bay Area for 5 years attracting independent record labels and many, many fans. Soon, she was performing as a background artist in movies such as Honeymoon in Vegas, Copycat and Beverly Hills Cop III. She also appeared on TV in such shows as Nash Bridges and a TV movie of the week Baby Snatchers. She then landed a top agent (Boom) in SF and worked in print ads for Dell Computer and while pregnant with her first child, she was a model for Babycenter.com all the while performing in musicals such as A Chorus Line and Hair at City Lights Theater in San Jose. She then went back to college to obtain her AA degree in Massage Therapy while studying music (music theory, piano, singing) as a minor.
In addition, Dana has accomplished some outstanding session singing. She sang two uplifting songs on the movie soundtrack Emily's Song and is a featured singer on songwriter John Foleys web-site songclips.com. She performed Pop, Rock, Country and Jazz tunes in the duo Nick and Knight, and has taught herself to play a little guitar and write her own songs. Mostly, she sings lullaby's to her children, and enjoys experimenting with recording on the computer. She spends a lot of time with her two young children, and spends as much time with her husband of 19 years. She also REALLY enjoys sleeping (which is a rarity in her household!)
