"The songs find their origins in hip-hop, but this is no surprise. It is actually comforting that an artist of this generation has instilled his poetry with universal vision; a vision that permeates the state of art, music, race and the world to life them up and bring them to an attention that is broad, and not simply for a select few."
– All About Jazz
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Dana Leong fuses hip-hop, jazz and electronics to create a signature hybrid sound. Artfully commanding cello, trombone and laptop, the Asian-American artist of Chinese and Japanese descent is breaking down artistic and cultural boundaries, collaborating, inventing, recording, touring and garnering critical acclaim along the way
Dana’s 4-piece ensemble, MILK & JADE by Dana Leong (cello/ trombone, laptop, keyboard, drumkit and rapper/ poet), is a sonic and visual representation of his cutting edge, melting-pot artistic vision. From slow, lyrical and symphonic tunes to high-energy hip-hop tunes, this electro-acoustic all-star foursome is quickly sweeping the world off its feet. The band’s recent sold out Asian tour as part of The Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad (sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs) is a testament to his virtuosic live performances and his mission to blur the lines between art and commercialism. HOLA!!! Saludos Musicales, Visita mi myspace y podras escuchar un pequeno adelanto de mi proximo trabajo discografico YAOUNDE HI!!!!! Musical Greeting, visit my myspace and you will be able to listen a small preview of my upcoming release YAOUNDE. Mucha Paz, amor y musica Much Peace, Love and Music
Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends! We've just added two new blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our space. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too. We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy. Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other. We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large. What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
Thank you, thank you. I'm quite good at crossing my eyes. I'm a pro! Haha...I was just lending an ear to your music and found it lovely! When are ya'll coming through Seattle?
