Sounds Like
Dana Parker's music is R&B with a lasting impression of Rock. Lovers of the music from Prince, George Clinton, & Nirvana; lovers of the lyrical content of Outkast, Talib Kweli, & Erykah Badu; will love Dana Parker & The Challenge.
I decided on Rock R&B because I felt like the lyrics I write needed the passion of both genres, but it doesn't begin there. I've been performing since I was 4 in plays, choirs, and groups of all kinds. I can remember being in my room as a little girl. I'd sneak in my big sister's room and take her boom box, then I'd put it in front of my own tape recorder and record as many parts as I could before it sounded too much like chipmunks. My piano teacher quit me because she told my parents I didn't need lessons. I'd sit and listen to my older sister and brother's lessons. When it was my turn I'd play for her what they just learned. I was 4 years old. I was always composing and playing by ear, so writing was a natural instinct. I wrote my first published lyrics when I was 13 on an album produced by New Edition's Michael Bivins. Once I learned there was a such thing as an Audio Engineer I knew I had to be one, so I got certified. I still engineer sessions, produce jingles and record voiceovers, and perform/record background vocals for many artists as I'll always enjoy doing. Having signed to major and small labels, and really everything inbetween, I've finally decided to try a career in music on my own. My experiences gave me lots to write about, and Rock R&B is the perfect fit. To learn more about me and my music visit me at...
