"As in the making of a scrumptious dinner recipe, I strive to abstract
a dab or pinch of seasoning from each of these amazing artist. I then
sprinkle into a mixing bowl of my very own and simply begin to stir."
(As you can tell,...I also love food.)
Dan seemingly had all odds opposing him from the start. Born into a family where living conditions were slightly above that of poverty, he was the 9th
of 10 brothers and sisters, and raised primarily by his older siblings in a single parent home. At the age of 5 he was told he would not be able to walk because of the deformed foot he was born with. Dan's case was so severe that doctors advised amputation as his best option. Dan and his family chose to not amputate. "Not only did they look very much alike, but my mom was really another "Maya Angelo" who was never recognized at any acclaimed level for her literary gift. I will never forget her sitting me down after yet another horrible day of being teased by elementary school classmates, and forcing me to make her a promise. She told me to promise her that I'd never let my birth defect or anyone prevent me from doing great things in life, she said being different was not a bad thing, but a good one. I can recall it like yesterday, her telling me that I was God's special little miracle boy. As you can see, I'm striving to keep my promise. My oldest brother (Ernest) also played a key role in my success, always speaking words that made me believe in myself and abilities. I now see why God chose to heal me through the hands of other gifted surgeons, he knew I would need it to stroll from one end of a stage to the other with mic in hand, declaring a sense of Hope, Love, & Purpose,...not only male/female relationship themes, but most importantly, themes highlighting the expressed love of our Creator for his Creation." Carter will also address deeper, non-traditional, matters not commonly found in today's music, including such topics as; materialism, domestic abuse, race relations, self-esteem, etc. Carter describes his music as "Songs that address multi apects of life." Today, Dan is indeed blessed to have established himself as one of the best in the state with a name and presence recognized by millions throughout the region, he's made appearances on all 3 local major tv
networks, and winner of 5 different singing contest to date. (including MI's largest "WDIV-4 Fireworks Super Singer Contest.") Carter was more recently featured in a "WJBK Fox-2" news story in which reporters crowned
him "Michigan's Vocal King", chosen by a panel of industry professionals in Lansing to represent MI in a national Idol style competition. The show took place in Vegas, where Carter earned an all expense paid trip. Among a grand total of 40,000 singers nation-wide, he finished in 2nd place, falling several points shy of the $5,000 1st place prize. He did bring home a generous $2,000 check. Along with being a re-occurring vocalist at events given by "Make a Wish" of MI, and one of 3 acts chosen to entertain guest at Ikea's grand opening, Dan is also a songwriter and conga player, he is a 2nd year member of the most popular and sought after wedding/party band in the state, (Chateau). He happens to also be a professional caricature artist. Dan's short term goal is a simple one, that is to esteem the awesome name of Christ Jesus, sing/write of other life experiences that inspires, and earn a living from such that will allow complete creative freedom. "My goal is to regularly perform 2 shows per week, establish a strong and loyal fan base, some regional touring with 2nd band "Dan Carter's E2 band (ever-evolving)", and sell cd's like lays potato chips (once you hear a DC song, you're gonna wanna hear more and more). Please note that my gospel release project with producer/rapper Jason Blackburn has been postponed due to him re-locating to another state. We plan to resume at another time and date. I'm currently in the studio with new producers and working on my R&B dedut release which is slotted for release in July. The 6 song debut release will be all originals and simply,- sizzlin' HOT, you will not be disappointed!!!
Thanks Don for ur friendship:) Very sweet page, profile and the sound in here...And all that comes from our territory-Michigan! LOL!!! Glad we are sharing the same music land. Peace! A.J.
Hey Dan. We're gonna have to hook up one of these days on a few tunes! Checked out your other site too. I think I know the girls in your band. Is there a place where their names are listed? I think I worked with one of them in the past (in Canton).
