About me: Dance Courses at Northland.
In 2008 Northland Secondary College will be the first high school to offer a Certificate IV full-time dance course!
Northland has the largest enrolments in the Certificate II Dance course in Victoria and in response to demand Northland will be offering a full-time Certificate IV Dance Course. These certificates are nationally accredited.
Option 1:
Students can receive in two years
• VCAL Certificate &
• Certificate II in Dance &
• Certificate IV in Dance
Option 2:
Students can receive in two years
• VCE Certificate &
• Certificate II in Dance
Option 3:
Students can receive in 1 year:
• Certificate IV in Dance (post year 12 or school leavers)
Training includes:
• Hip Hop (Krump, Breaking & Nu skool)
• Ballet (basic technique)
• Contemporary (lyrical)
• Jazz (basic technique)
• Cultural Dance (Indigenous, Islander, African,Latin)
Preparation for the Industry including:
• Dance Competitions (entry in Shakedown, Groove, Hollywood Dance Comp)
• Auditions (Commercial Dance, Musical theatre, Cultural)
• Camp USA ( 10 day US Dance workshop in June/July)
• Agency Representations (CV/Professional photo shoot and interviews with agencies)
• Applications for University ( Advice and submission with Careers Co-ordinator)
