Punk seems to be a dirty word—a concrete definition of style, ideas, and politics. It has become safe and predictable and sucked void of the passion that made the music relevant.
Dance Electric's mission is to dismiss these misguided preconceptions and to create something intense, sexy, and interactive.
Dance Electric brings catchy dance punk with a touch of explosive noise to your ears. With influences such as Refused, The Red Light Sting, The Chinese Stars, and the Stooges, Dance Electric takes the same ruthless attitudes and meshes them together to create something musically powerful and beautiful.
Their live shows can simply be described as fun. Audience participation is a constant—the music seems to transcend the possession of the band and is shared with observers.
In the last two years Dance Electric has accomplished much. They have shared the stage with bigger acts such as Hostage Life and Attack in Black as well as playing surreal environments such as a healthy relationship seminar and an amateur wrestling match. More recently, Dance Electric has performed at Halifax Pop Explosion and has recorded a 2 song set for the television show King! Kaboom! to air on Sun TV.
Taking the DIY punk attitude, they ambitiously have recorded their own debut cd entitled "We are Dance Electric". This cd contains 8 dance punk anthems which are both aggressive and catchy as hell.
Dance Electric works tirelessly all with a firm tongue placed in their collective cheek—determined to see what they can get away with next. You love Dance Electric and Dance Electric loves you.
