"…subtle, slow-burning magic." Jim Carroll - '08
"Her scenery depicts longing, while the music suggests strength. But regardless of the musical accompaniment, Katie Kims' lyrics are, progressive, productive and working towards a firm conclusion, even if it's a hopeless one.." Music Week '07
"Katie Kim's particular quandary is neatly mapped out for us in ten proverbial, illustrious scrapes of paper, seeing to it that the only journey of any relevance, is the one from the artists head to ours... enlightening." Analogue '08
"Katie Kim - Twelve - the debut solo album from this irish based singer katie sullivan. she was also a former vocalist with indie rock outfit dae kim along with former ten speed racer member terry cullen. this is a beautifully intimate collection of songs centred around sullivans beautifully husky voice. the album has a similar kind of intimacy to the likes of mazzy star with hints of the early aggression of pj harvey or the more folky based late night feel of cat power. the album features some lovely background instrumentation with subtle touches of slide guitar, brushed drums and mellow electronic effects. its that kind of eclectic collection that reminds of the glory days of labels like 4ad and their collaborative this mortal coil projects. it really is a wonderful collection of laid back late night sounds featuring a voice to die for "
Road Records "album of the month" - 2008
"One of my favourite Irish albums of the season comes from Waterford lass Katie Kim. "Twelve" is a slow-burner, all weird turns and fuzzy twists. Live, Katie and her two hooded co-players get tougher and grittier in a Mazzy Star rocking out with Cat Power kind of way. Best songs were the ones which book-ended the set, the glorious "Radio" and the rivetting "Jennifer"" The Irish Times '09
"Born in London but based in Ireland, former Dae Kim front-woman Katie-Kim Sullivandescribes her sound as 'acousmatic screamo pop'. In fact, she's a trafficker in dreamy space-rock: her songs sound forever in the brink of sinking into Cocteau Twins pastiche, but there's always a sublime melody or quirky hook to keep the whiff of recycled ideas at bay. Independently released, her album Twelve has already basked in ecstatic reviews. If there's any justice in pop, 2009 will see her break free of the local circuit." The Independent '08
"Almost as if by accident, Katie Kims' aching voice has become one of the most widely anticipated, in the indie, folk, pop scene in Ireland. For all the richness of the orchestration, the songs, at any given moment, seem to be spare and offbeat. The intermitted side sound crests, merely making more space for Sullivan's lonely yearning" Claus '07
" Katie Kim, you got to hear her. Straight out of Waterford, burning up the blues and making tunes for snakecharmers to ply their wares. The album is called “Twelve”. A glorious, glorious slew of bang on-the-money slightly not-there pop" On The Record '09
