Dance New Amsterdam's mission is to support dancers by providing a dynamic environment for dance education, creation, and performance. DNA achieves its mission by offering classes, workshops and performance programs in a wide range of dance forms to both professionals and nonprofessionals that are led by internationally-established dance educators. toby	Jun 6 2008 4:40 AM thank you, whoever wrote the passage about jim in the email newsletter. you managed to capture my feelings exactly. nothing makes a person feel more welcomed and special than having their name remembered, and even more so if several years have gone by. dance space was one of the first studios where i took class when i moved to new york 12 years ago and that means jim was one of the first people who greeted me here by name on a daily basis. if everyone has a superpower, his was definitely the ability to make a person feel like an old friend immediately. oh yes, and of course the ability to never need to wear a coat. early on i used to challenge him to see if he knew which class i was there to take, and if he guessed wrong, i always wondered if in fact he was correct and i might be taking the wrong class after all. a candle to light your way, jim.
