About me:
THIS JUST IN FROM DIRECTOR GREGG BISHOP!

Big CONGRATULATIONS to all of you-- YOU EARNED THIS!!!

I am so proud of this movie and all of you.

(please pass this along to anyone I missed!)

-Gregg

Beverly Hills, CA, May 16, 2008 - Ghost House Underground has acquired “Dance of the Dead,” directed by Gregg Bishop, which made its international debut at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin earlier this year. Written by Joe Ballarini and produced by Bishop and Ehud Bleiberg through Bleiberg Entertainment’s Compound B label, the film is to be distributed by Lionsgate in North America this fall as part of Ghost House Underground’s inaugural October Horror slate.

“Dance of the Dead” is the hilarious, blood-drenched adventure of several high school students from different social cliques banding together to save their town from the living dead. Reviews have compared the film to the works of both John Carpenter and John Hughes.

"Between Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert at Ghost House, the experience of Barry & Stan at Grindstone, and Lionsgate, who is the king of genre marketing and distribution... 'Dance of the Dead' has found the perfect home,” Bishop said. “I am thrilled to be working with them both and I know they will do a fantastic job bringing the movie to audiences everywhere."

The deal was brokered by Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb of Ghost House Underground and Roman Kopelevich and Shannon Banal for Bleiberg Entertainment’s Compound B. Ghost House Underground also holds rights in the UK, Australia and New Zealand while Bleiberg Entertainment retains the remaining worldwide rights. The film will have its market premiere screening in Cannes.

Ghost House Underground is the new partnership between Ghost House Pictures and Grindstone Entertainment Group dedicated to acquiring quality horror pictures from up-and-coming filmmakers with original voices from around the world. The new film acquisitions company teams Grindstone, the largest distributor of direct-to-video films, with the successful horror genre company led by filmmaker Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, the Spider-Man franchise), Rob Tapert (30 Days of Night, The Grudge films), and Mandate Pictures' president Nathan Kahane.

Ghost House Underground has lined up a slate of eight provocative, independent horror films that will launch the brand, with a focus on groundbreaking product from cutting edge young talent. Ghost House will primarily partner with Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, to distribute many of its planned 12 to 20 genre films annually through Lionsgate's $600 million a year worldwide home entertainment business. Some of the films on Ghost House Underground's slate include Dark Floors from Eurovision Award-winning rock group Lordi and director Pete Riski, which had its international premiere at the European Film Market in Berlin in February; director Gregg Bishop’s Dance of the Dead; director Davis Payne’s No Man’s Land: Rise of the Reeker; director Martin Barnewitz's Room 205; director Ole Bornedal's The Substitute; director Igor Shavlak's Trackman; writer/director Gabriele Albanesi's Last House in the Woods; and writer/directors Michael Roesch and Peter Scheerer's The Brotherhood of Blood, which Lionsgate will distribute in North America.

HELP GET "DANCE OF THE DEAD" TUCSON THEATRICAL DISTRIBUTION!
Myself and David Pike are in negotiations with Mr. Gregg Bishop to have "DoD" open the ARIZONA UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL in mid-October (just prior to it's official release on DVD Oct. 14th).

He, in turn, is approaching his distributors with this offer.

Help me help Gregg convince Lionsgate to allow the Fox Theater in Tucson, Arizona to have a theatrical run either before or after it's now straight-to-DVD-only status.

I think Austin or Atlanta would be the more appropriate place for "DoD" to have it's apparently only possible theatrical distribuition in the country.

One critic said it's currently on his BEST OF 2008 list. He gave it 5/5.

Another critic gave 10/10.

And these are genre critics from name Horror magazines and ezines and blogs.

That sounds better than a straight-to-DVD film to me. Don't you think?

WELL IF YOU DO THINK: LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Add Lionsgate as a Myspace friends and let them know what you think of this movie. At the time of typing this, I honestly don't know if that even exists.

This as well as the "DoD" official website may be the closest thing. And in fact maybe be the more effective voice for "DoD" supporters/fans.

Convince them that YOU would pay for a $10 ticket in your best local cinema, no matter what kind of studio competition there was that weekend.

FOR THE RECORD, I'LL SAY NOW I DO NOT KNOW--NOR HAVE ANY CONTROL OVER--WHAT THE TUCSON FOX THEATER INTENDS TO CHARGE IF LIONSGATE/GHOST HOUSE ALLOWS "DANCE OF THE DEAD" TO SHOW MORE THAN JUST AT THE AZ UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL.

According to critics: this seems to be the best bet for Horror movies to see around Halloween time as is.

Take care and make this happen if you want it to everyone!

What a great page! I think about you all often and have some good news for you...I hope. I'll know more today.

I was at the Independent Film Panel last night at Sci Fi Summer Con2007 and showed a slide show of our sets we built. I showed them the failed Wake Room Disaster, the follow up, told them how much my budget was, showed them the gym, The Big Red Machine on its' side, the whole works.

Well, I didn't know it at the time, but the two gentleman sitting at the other end of the table from me were looking at the work and then looking at each other...jaws dropped!

Immediately after the panel was over, he stood up, looked straight at me and said, "I want your card. Now!" No kidding. He really said that. Just like that.

I'll be signing a non-disclosure agreement today for the film so that he can tell me about it. He will not share any information until I sign it, but he told me he wants me on the movie.

For those with short term memory loss, I would like to remind you that I didn't build all those sets on the movie by myself. Well, I did one or two, but those were small potatoes. I might also remind you of the fact that we spent a lot of time walking around that school saying, "What can we use to make (insert set/item/etc.)." Remember that? Yeah, I thought you might.

Well, the only thing I know right now is that I told him, "My budget won't be that much as I use what's on hand. I'm not cheap." He looked at me and said, "That's not a problem. You'll be taken care of."

I told you I don't forget people who work hard. Just so you know, you'll know when I know what the project is (when I can share that), where it will be filmed, and who I will need on the Production Design team.

I told you all a thousand times, work hard as a volunteer and the next gig will be paid! I meant it! Bear in mind that I make no promises and that this will come to fruition or not, but

By any chance did you happen to help clean up the principal's office props? I have talked to the coach and he had my black dress. I had three pairs of dress shoes and for me, those were irreplaceable with my feet problems. But most of all, my golf ball collection. The one that had about a 100 balls in a huge glass container and my son's trophies and medals with they were babies. There were flower arrangements, etc, but the golf balls are sentimental. The coach was getting ready to take things to Collinsville when I called so he is hanging on to my black dress for me, but swears he never saw the golf balls. He said Stephen got the rest. I talked to Stephen, he said he remembers them being in the scene, but didn't do anything with them. He also said that some of the stuff that was left over he gave to the lady that has a traveling yard sale that always sets up in the middle school's parking lot. I thought you might know something or if you were out and saw this lady you could ask her to describe some of the items she was given. I am offering a reward for these golf balls and trophies. There was a picture of David and my son David that was used, also a picture of my son holding David Grayson when he was just a few months old. These were on the bookcase in the office. I think someone realized how expensive these are and kept them. I thought James would keep them safe because he knew every single thing other than coach Gossett's pictures were my personal belongings and some were sentimental, but he wasn't there. I was just trying to help when they didn't have a production designer. I never got the email to come get the stuff and I was unable to get there after the Claremont filming. Stephen said there was a chance they were still in the office, but if they had to clear it out, i know it had to be moved.Anyway, if you know anything, please let me know. You can call me or text me at 770-546-1951. I rarely check my email or at lawrence_couch@char

Dear Zombies,
Thanks again for all your help! I am missing a very expensive SILICONE ARM that we used on DOD. The Arm cost well over $1000, it was used in the GYM Scene. We have done and inventory at my shop and turned everything inside out looking for this arm. If anyone knows the where abouts of the arm, I really would appreciated it if you return it or let me know where it is. Please know that I am NOT Accusing anyone or any Group of people, but the last time I saw it was at Coosa Middle School in our work room. I appreciate any help that you can give me.
All the best,
Toby
