The Dance Party of Newfoundland was formed in 2004 and has since gone on to perform sold out shows in St. John’s, Chicago, Dawson City, Toronto and Whitehorse. They have appeared on national television as a part of the CBC comedy special, Sketch with Kevin McDonald, on national radio with the CBC favorite Madly Off In All Directions and last November recorded a pilot for CBC radio. The DPN played to a capacity crowd at The Magnetic North Theatre Festival. They received a standing ovation from an over-sold audience at the Gladstone Theatre during the 2006 Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival. The boys have been hitting the festival circuit of late playing the Chicago SketchFest where the Chicago Sun Times called them ‘rising stars’ and New York City where they recieved a glowing review from Nytheatre.com. This past spring the DPN completed a cross province tour of Newfoundland and Labrador ending in St. John’s in front of a energetic crowd of nine hundred. The DPN just finished a showcase at Contact East in Liverpool, Nova Scotia and were just awarded the Second City Best Of The Fest Award at the 2007 Toronto International Sketch Comedy Festival. New York Sketchfest? Awesome! You guys are really making the rounds. All those phone calls you're making in that picture must be paying off. Might point out that in the bio, you're no longer actually preparing for the provincial tour. Or maybe you are, using the 20/20 hindsight. Hope to get to see you folks again before too long...
