Well, let's see here...I live and breathe this stuff. Dance/club music. All types.
I consult and advise clients who require expertise in dance/club music, applying my background in local radio, national radio, social networking and music discovery to clients in broadcast/webcast, video, mobile, advertising creative, marketing, branding and social networking...almost any project or enterprise that needs assistance with dance music and its fans.
You may have heard me at WorldSpace Satellite Radio (The System, foreign service or North America on XM82), XM Radio (BPM81/The Move80/Chrome83), grooveradio.com, and my Beat Radio Network of stations in 10 cities (Denver, Phoenix, OC/LA, Dallas-Ft. Worth, New York, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Philadelphia, Detroit, Kansas City and Chicago).
BPM, during my three years there, was twice recognized for its sound and leadership in dance music radio, at both the 20th and 21st International Dance Music Awards in Miami (IDMAs), winning XM's only IDMAs with the “Best Satellite Radio Channel” awards for 2004 and 2005.
My travels have stationed me in my hometown of Minneapolis, plus Philadelphia, DC and Santa Monica/Los Angeles. In addition to radio and Internet I've worked on-camera as a VJ on an over-the-air TV music video channel and I've done the club DJ thing. In the era before downloads, I worked retail connecting music fans with CDs and records at a music store (remember those places?). Ran a house music night in Minneapolis at First Avenue for five years, too.
I've been loving and promoting all types of dance music since I was in high school. If you have questions about dance music, just ask! And yes, Alan Freed is my real name (no relation to the earlier one).
Contact me for dance music consultation or with any type of question about dance/club music. Client services include programming, music consultation, and guidance on reaching and understanding the diverse and underserved dance and electronic music fan base.
Who I'd like to meet: You! And those with a need for dance music consultation - radio/tv/Internet/mobile/video/advertising/branding/marketing/film/social networking.
When you send me a friend request please be sure your MySpace profile isn't set to "private" (or if it is, pop me a note). If it's private and I don't know you, I'll deny your request; I want to know who my new friends are.
GET IT FOR FREE.... Now (and only here) - can you get this full-length, high quality, promotional download of 'RUNNING' (Supersaw feat. Veronica Start) - as heard on Armin van Buuren's ASOT 237. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
I wanted to stop by and let you know of some Groover's getting together on Wednesday evenings online @ http://www.livestream.com/KUMA
Last week was the first week of the gathering... Cody spins with a dj named Tuna Jesus (aka: Jim). They are on at 9pm PST. You'll see allot of familiar faces.
HotDish (1st Saturdays @ BLACK) is back - the energy continues to build - and it's ON this Saturday! CHICAGO IS IN THE HOUSE! Frankie J (of the Sound Republic), Scrubfish & Laurence, with birthday boy J. Matthews! We're drizzling this one with extra funk and boom tiss!
Don't know Frankie J, Scrubfish & Laurence, or anyone from the jackin' movement - shame on you! Visit www.spatulacityrecords.com for some 411.
THIS SATURDAY - 5th of September - First Avenue VIP - ENTER SIDE DOOR! 10pm. $5. FREE CROSSOVER TO "TOO MUCH LOVE" (can't beat that)! Would love to see everyone there!
When you have a sec, need a P.O. box or addy to get you a promo of LOOKING 4 THE KLF. There are 13 versions/remixes to date by DJ's & folks all over the world and the vid's been picked up by NME TV, Promo Only, Rockamerica & RED and is getting a remix of iut's own, so hopefully all will send it over! Have another album in the can too... just finishing up tracks, mixing and polishing.
How are you...? And where are you? I still think of you everytime I see my XM shot glass in the cupboard! xxx Brooke
BTW, my son swam like a fiend in NVa Swim League All-Star Relays today. He's the anchor of the 9-10 boys medley. There are 98 teams in the NVSL, and they were ranked 13th. Daniel jumped in in his heat with a tiny lead, and came up out of the water and blew away the field by about 2.5-3 body lengths. I was soooo proud of him, and he was so excited! They ended up 7th overall, and would have beat out the 'faster' heat above them. They dropped 3 seconds off their time. For a kid suffering from "major" depression in April, wow, he has sooo turned around! He has a membership at Gold's now too, and we race each other on the virtual bikes. He always wins, but it is fun. My ex is being absolutely abusive to everyone in the family right now... so that is really bad. But I keep trying to move forward as best I can... . Tmw the video gets released. If you will help me, I'd appreciate it. I want as many people as possible to post it on their pages-- if I can make this go viral, it would mean so much to getting the word out on this issue. Only if you are comfortable doing so, of course.
I like your default alot. That is the Alan I know... :)
Hey Alan, How have you been? After reading tons of hate for BPM now (post merger) on XMFan.com, I was curious to get your thoughts on the state of BPM today? ;) I also was interested in knowing what you think about Radio Danz and the fantastic job Bernardo Passariello has done with it....specifically bringing in Blake Lawerence "Maxwell House" to do the Radio Danz countdown? I actually went back into some archives of the XMFan boards for BPM (2004-2007). Alot of amazing stuff then, that is sadly missed during the award winning years while you were PD & MD! I think I took for granted what an "unbelievable" and respected dance radio outlet in the USA it was at that time you were there! -S
You were/are the shit. Miss hearing your voice and music selection on BPM, and subsequently the system. Sirius-XM have done a good job at destroying everything. RIP the good times. :(
