Dance Umbrella brings you to dance and dance to you.
Who I'd like to meet:
YOU at Dance Umbrella 2008

Dance Umbrella is recruiting 120 Londoners aged 8 - 17 years who are interested in dancing in a new work at Royal Albert Hall, accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra.

The choreographer, Royston Maldoom, is famous for making dance for young people and will be creating a dance company especially for these performances.

The performances will take place on 1 & 2 November. (Applications close 3 March 2008).

Previous dance experience (in any style) is preferred, but not strictly necessary. The main thing we ask for is ENTHUSIASM and COMMITMENT!

This project is free-of-charge to everyone taking part. Dance Umbrella will even help with your travel costs.

Who can be involved?

Anyone aged between 8-17years on 1 September 2008 living in London.

To be considered for this project, you need to complete an application form and return it to the Dance Umbrella office by 3 March 2008. Participants will be selected individually and at random to ensure there is a cross-section of age, geographical location and level of dance experience.

No audition is required.

To watch a trailer of a documentary film of a similar project by Royston Maldoom, called Rhythm is It!, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e-cwOn5w3A

What can participants expect?

An inspirational experience. There will be five weeks of rehearsals split between the summer holidays, some weekends in September/October and the October half term week. This will culminate in performing on the vast stage of the Royal Albert Hall with one of the world's greatest orchestras.
