About me:

I am happy to have a place to keep in contact with my friends and fans and hope you all enjoy the page. There are always new images being added in the pic section from various performances around the area.

Performances are listed on my calendar below and kept up to date on my studio page: Alima Dusana Bellydance Studio. I also perform at several private shows and parties and well as putting on several public shows throughout the year. Please subscribe to my blog if you desire updates on performances and shows.

I have danced nearly all my life. I have been in ballet for over 26 years and bellydance for 7 years. I have performed for the San Francisco Ballet and danced with different troupes throughout California, Hawaii and now Hampton Roads Virginia. I have also been teaching dance for over 10 years and Teaching music for over 8. Speaking of music, I also play the cello and piano and have worked with the San Diego Symphony and the California and Hawaii school systems. I have trained in bellydancing extensively with Janeeda (I was formerly the lead dancer of her troupe: Isis Rising for the last four years) as well as attended a wide variety of workshops from talented bellydance performers from around the world. I love teaching, especially children, and have also worked with several volunteer programs for teaching elderly, children and special needs students. I currently offer all Cello intruction in all levels and I also offer beginning and intermediate Piano, Violin, and Viola. As for Bellydance instruction please check out my Studio page for times and availability. For those who hold a YMCA membership, please join me for a bellydance workout class at the Great Bridge/Hickory YMCA. The classes are included in you membership fees. That schedule can be viewed on the Studio website as well.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who enjoys bellydancing or is interested in learning the art.

If you come to watch us dance at one of the restaurants, Please keep these few things in mind:

Only come to the dance floor if the dancer invites you up. No touching of the dancer is permitted while dancing with her. Please follow her instructions while on the dance floor with her. She will not only help guide your dancing to interact with hers, but also send you off the floor when the performance is about to change.

Tipping is appreciated, but there are a few differences. Money is not tucked into the costume of the dancer (it is also illegal to do so in virginia), but is dropped over the head of the dancer or thrown on the dance floor.
