About me:

Habibi has been a performer in the Southern California high desert for 11 years, with a consistent focus on entertainment backed by tradition. A natural performer in a variety of dance forms, Habibi began her belly dance journey with American Tribal Style belly dance, a form that provided a base in strong technique, lush costuming, and a focus on powerful group presentations of the dance. Combining her desire to perform as a soloist with her new found talents as a belly dancer, Habibi added both Egyptian Raqs Sharqi and Classic American belly dance to her training repertoire. Over a decade later, Habibi is a respected instructor with a hand in training many of the performing dancers in her region. Her classes in Hesperia, Barstow and--for the last 8 years--the Town of Apple Valley are extremely popular, and serve as a safe, fun and rigorous place for learners to receive a well-rounded Middle Eastern belly dance education. In her own performances, Habibi draws inspiration from of two her favorite dancers, Dina and Jillina, while always keeping herself in the mix. Her personal style draws from pin-up art and rockabilly, and her dances occasionally hint at belly dancings potential burlesque past. A continuous education in traditional Middle Eastern dance forms keeps her performances rooted in ethnic dance, and allows Habibi's personal flare to shine through while being family friendly and regularly featured in local media and community events. Habibi has been involved in the larger belly dance community as an organizer and promoter. She was president of the Middle Eastern Culture and Dance Association (MECDA) Desert Community Chapter, and has worked behind the scenes for the International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance (IAMED). She is well-known locally for offering dance opportunities for both student and fellow professionals at a variety of dance showcases (HipQuake, LaCabana). Habibi is decidedly a belly dancer with a twist!! SEE MY BLOG FOR MY RESUME !!
