Dancing Turtle Records promotes and produces music from emerging artists around the world. Our commitment to unearthing new styles and sub-genres of music, as well as broadening the audience of more familiar sounds, has created a vibrant base for musicians to showcase their music. With an ever growing roster of acts incorporating musical styles from leftfield electronica to indie-folk, world, trip hop, dubstep, downtempo and soul, the label has become a melting pot of musical eclecticism. It's all about music without prejudice. Acts on our roster come from as far afield as Japan, West Papua, and Brazil, as well as the freshest new talent in Europe.
Dancing Turtle is also concerned with the social benefits that music can bring, regularly organising consciousness raising music events for a variety of pressure groups and charities, channeling the power of music to help stimulate positive social change. This is also reflected in some of our releases too, like the Merdeka compilation CD, with acts from over 17 countries coming together to raise funds and awareness for the oppressed people of West Papua.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the recently released debut album from hotly tipped indie-folk act Amycanbe. We guarantee you haven't heard music quite as sweet and seductive as theirs before! Also just out on the label are EP releases from Inkliing and Daisuke Tanabe and the debut album from the Lani Singers.
Our website, www.dancingturtle.co.uk is the place to head for more indepth information about our ever growing roster of musicians and forthcoming releases, as well as catching up on the latest goings on with our monthly podcast series. You can also find out information about upcoming artist and label showcase nights, download exclusive live sets from our previous events, and purchase music from some of the most exciting artists on the scene.
Bands, promoters and venues feel free to add to the NEW what's on. We would do it for you but then that's all we would be doing alday instead of getting on with working on the new sections. The search results were excellent with our old site, (the stats proved people were using the site to look for gigs/events.) they are going to be even better with this one
Just type in "alternative music community" or "NEW alternative music" in google and see the results for yourselves!!! and if you click UK we're even higher! Don't miss out on a great way to promote your band or gigs and events.
There is more options for members to do. New more indepth profiles, members galleries that are easy to add photos to, a new gig and events what's on section, brand new directory listings. But.. the old forum and accounts.
We've got more to add too, but for now tweaking and the occasional bug fixing on the sections that are already up. Plus adding odd listings in the what's on and directory.
In the magicalities of a could, Between the probabilities of a would, Beyond the trivialities of a should, In these ungraspable mysticalities There lies a secret a passage… To this extraordinary wood.
But for you, it unfolds easily and true And the only thing you have to do Is press play, and you’ll have a view.
Hiya, thanks for being a friend - I enjoyed visiting YourSpace :-) Keep it up May your life be full of love, light and fun... hugs SOREN - Beats for change - NYERTUN
Review: "Don Goliath's "Bagstep EP" (DDR030) is one of those innovative EPs showcasing how versatile Dubstep can get. The unique idea of creating Dubstep versions of celctic (Irish as well as Scottish) folk classics for all you drunkards longing to sing along was Don Goliath's motto when producing this madness. The concept is as simple as effective: he picked 4 of your grandpa's favourites such as "Old Skibbereen", "Scotland the Brave", "Drunken Sailor" and "Amazing Grace" having the melody played by a definitly non-sober Bagpipe section and then layering it with lofi mid range wobbleism - we therefor call it Bagstep. Overall production quality is high grade with that intense sub focus so you can blow-dry your hair right in front of the bass bins. Now let's get into the tunes: "Skibbereen Bagstep" is one of the melancolic minor tunes expressing Irish history as it is. It is an unmixable 3/4 waltz beat at unusual 154bpm, well dancebal though when one moves to the triplets. "Bagstep the brave" should be one of the sickest rebuilds of the Scottish national anthem making it Mel Gibson's signature tune if he had one. "Drunken Bagstep" is a Glitchfest version of the sailors anthem capable of getting you uberdrunk by listening alone, Arrrr! "Amazing Bagstep" is as religious as it gets making it a tune that'll certainly safe xamounts of lost souls. Enjoying the dancefloor got even easier now: drink out the bar, make your skirt fly and sing along to these (future) classics! Some will hate this release and some will love it, there barely is anything in between. All Dubstep Division crew salutes the latter as our fellow beerheadz! cheeeeeerz!"
