About me:
Hi and welcome to Dane's MySpace page. Dane is a professional systems engineer, academic and musician who has played and sung for over forty years. He currently sings and plays harmonica, mandolin, mandola etc. with a celtic/folk/blues band, Headland and a celtic/gypsy band, The
Gypsy Tarts. Dane has researched and practiced instrument maintenance and tuning in earnest for the last five years or so (since retiring from full-time professional work), and during this time has often been privileged to meet and learn from some of Australia's premier artists and technicians. In late 2006 Dane started a small online music business, MandoHarp Australia at www.mandoharp.com and www.myspace.com/mandoharp. Over the last couple of years MandoHarp has become Australia's leading supplier of Suzuki Harmonicas. On the qualifications side of things, Dane has undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Business, and post-graduate qualifications in Information Technology and Education. He occasionally works as a part-time engineer and academic these days and though he loves teaching computer engineering he enjoys himself much more when working on instruments and playing music!
