About me:
.. Hello everyone! i finally added a FAQ to my page here. this was needed a long time ago. im doing this in hopes of reducing the amount of messages and emails i get. so please read over the FAQ's carefully before messaging me. i will greatly appreciate it!BEFORE reading FAQs
a few things i would like to say,...
tattooing has changed quite a bit since i entered the industry. the rise of tattoo reality shows have shown the public pretty much only one side of this industry. that side is the everyday, walk in flash shop side. i worked on that side for a long time and it wore on me pretty good. TV is good for setting trends. so many people are bringing their trends into tattooing. tattooing is permanent and trends are quite the opposite. not a good mix. it will become a symbol to show you were one of the ones that fell into it. think about that before getting your cross, coi fish, phoenix, kanji, armband, dream catcher, tribal, wizard, color zombie portrait, and even that long ass sentence on your ribs. i am here for those who are into the next level of this art form. i am a full custom tattooist. meaning my own personal art style only. i am aware that it is not for everyone. many may think my style looks all the same or too much of a guy aitchison rip off. my suggestion for them is to not message me about tattooing them and find a custom artist that they like. there are many, all over the world, take your pick and dont be afraid to travel to get the perfect tattoo. sometimes that is the only way to get exactly what you want. i do portraits once in a while cause they are still fun for me but the popularity of those has me turning them away much more often. if you seen it asked for more than 10 times on a tattoo reality show, i will most likely not be interested. sorry. that doesn't only go for portraits either. i have influences just as everyone does but please dont ask me to tattoo like another tattooist. it is just much easier on us both if you just went to that tattooist for your tattoo. that is what custom artists have to offer, it is up to you to choose them according to what kind of tattoo you are in the market for. more and more i have been running into the issue of other tattooists re tattooing the same image i tattooed and posted or had in print somewhere. this has been an issue forever. im sure i wont make a difference in the matter but i will feel better having it posted. please use any image you see that is already tattooed on someone for influence for your own tattoo but NEVER trace a photo of a tattoo and re tattoo it on another person. you never know if it was designed for them and not just a piece of flash. that customer did it right and went to a tattooist to design them a tattoo that no one else has. maybe even paid more too. then you go and do it on someone, post it or have it in your portfolio falsely showing people that you may have drawn it. a very unprofessional thing to do. tracing a photo of an image on an uneven surface like the body, it will be all distorted anyway. it is not a tribute to that tattooist either, it is more of an insult. if you are in another country and want work by a certain tattooist but cant arrange the trip,... get something else that artist has to offer. like a painting, a print, T shirt, whatever. there, i said it. with all that being said, please scroll down and read my FAQ's
FAQ's (frequently asked questions)
---where?
i now work in my own private studio in the West Allis/Milwaukee, WI area.. this is not a store. so sorry, no visitors unless prearranged by myself or my client. i have a shop phone line but im am usually too busy to answer. all questions and apts are made over the computer only.
---how do i contact you?
first, read all these FAQ's. then if you still think i am the one for that tattoo or project, send me a message or an e mail. please explain everything in the first message, what you had in mind, where, how big, covering anything(attach pics), adding on, etc. the less messages i have to send the sooner we can get started. i like to roughly design most pieces in photoshop on a photo of you. so im sure ill ask for some pics. this can take some time and is all done before any apt is made. always keep this in mind along with my booking time. most cases this process can take about 2 to 3 months. sometimes longer depending how busy i am at the time.
---why haven't you answered my messages or e mails?
i get a lot of messages these days and its getting impossible to reply to them all. it does take me a while to reply so you never know, a reply may be on its way. please bare with me on that. i do read them all though. a lot of them are requests for tattoos completely out of my personal style or just way too mainstream for me to do. there's plenty of walk in shops for that stuff. hopefully these FAQ's will help me reply faster.
---how much?
i charge per 4 hr session on most occasions as opposed to charging per hour. i do have a 2 session minimum. a full day apt is also possible for the ones who are able. also for ones who travel. read all my FAQ's and then message me for price. serious inquires only!!
---do you accept credit cards??
no. for tattooing, cash only. for prints, airbrushed canvases, flash or anything shipped is money orders only.
---how long are you booked?
i personally dont like to be booked too far in advance. i try to keep my apt book about 2 months out. the more booked my apt book gets, the pickier i become about starting anything new.
---how long have you been tattooing?
longest ive ever held a job, bar far!
---will you do this tattoo?
i try to stick in my own personal style these days. that being the, skull/face/biomech/organic style. you can get the best examples of that in my digital artwork folder here. letting me do whatever i want is always the best way to get my attention. i dont like to do main stream tattoos. not much for reproducing other non tattooists works but i have been known to make an exception depending on who the artist is and if we have their permission.
---do you only do large tattoos?
not "only", just mostly. if i do a smaller piece, i will still break it down into 2 sessions. i work very layered, like a painting and i rely on healing to go back into it and add the final details. i prefer to do large projects. sleeves, back pieces, etc. i also like to mess with symmetry and really keeping that clients full picture in mind. meaning, how their whole body will be arranged/planned whether i do their future tattoos or not.
---starting a major project?
i personally like to do large projects but they are a major commitment. i just ask that you really make sure you are up for it. financially and physically. i know the unexpected can always happen but in general, id like to be able to consistently work on a project every 2 to 4 weeks until it is completed. these large projects take a while to finish and coming in less often than that can make them seem like an eternity,.... to me at least. making the next apt before you leave the day of the first session is always best. that way i can avoid the messages. major projects are suggested to be scheduled at least 2 apts ahead with healing time between them. full day apts can be made if you are up for it.
---can you cover this??
i really dont care to do cover ups much lately. im mostly spoiled by a few lazer sessions to lighten it up first. the lazer has been a very helpful tool to the tattoo world and i cant suggest it enough. it is well worth it to do whatever it takes to fix that mistake and make it right for the rest of your life. so much better than the obvious spot in your brand new sleeve, back piece, etc. its going to be expensive in the long run, whats a little bit more to make it a million times better forever.
---can i get a tear out like the Spiderman one??
please, no more tear outs. that tattoo is all over the internet and people are filling up my inboxes with all kinds of requests for comic or super heroes tearin out of them now. tear outs are a dated tattoo that the average public over used a long time ago. sorry but i dont encourage that.
---do you do guest spots?
as of right now, i do not. i do get asked quite often and have been thinking about it for the future. my local clients can keep me plenty busy here.
---do you allow guest artists at your studio?
another thing for the future. i am still getting some of the cosmetics finished and planning on adding another work station for collaborative purposes and the occasional guest artist. eventually.
---conventions?
i was never a fan of working conventions. mostly because of the comfort level of everyone involved. again, i do get asked a lot and i have been thinking about it for the future. i do like to attend as many as i can though.
---take on an apprentice?
this is another thing ive been considering for the future. i guess its all going to depend on the right person. it would be someone with an already developed art skill that grabs my attention. someone who has never done a tattoo as well. this will not be free either.
---airbrushing?
airbrushing is totally secondary for me. i still like to do canvases once in a while and if time permits, some automotive too. i do sell my canvas paintings and try to keep it current in my airbrush folder here as to which ones are available. they can sell fast at times so message me if you see one you would like. cars and bikes can take a lot more time so i dont get to do that as often as i would like.
---digital prints?
all of my digital paintings are for sale upon request. they can also be printed on a large scale as well. they are all high resolution files meant to be printed. price is according to size and also paper/canvas request. roughly, 8x10 inches is aprox $50. money orders only.
---flash?
i have a few sets of flash for sale. those are also in my folders here. money orders only.
