Daniel Buchanan is a singer, recording artist, composer, pianist, church musician, music educator, and artistic entrepreneur based in Houston, Texas. His debut CD release "Devotion" is available at www.danielbuchanan.net. "Devotion" is an ecclectic project including original songs, Medieval and Renaissance vocal music, and hymn arrangements.
Daniel recently made his symphonic debut singing Handel’s Messiah with the Southwest Florida Symphony. He currently sings with the Houston Grand Opera in the Opera-to-Go ensemble, regularly performing opera at a variety of venues and schools throughout Southeast Texas. His opera roles include the title role in Albert Herring, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, and Ferrando in Così fan tutte. He recently performed Hilarion in Princess Ida with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston. He has also sung the role of Testo in Monteverdi’s Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda.
Daniel is a core member and Director of Artistic Operations for Opera Vista, an innovative opera company based in Houston, Texas. Opera Vista sponsors a festival of contemporary opera every June, including a competition for up-and-coming opera composers. The organization also creates many other projects throughout the year, including performances at Houston’s Cafe Brasil and imaginative opera programming. With Opera Vista, Daniel has sung the role of Bill in Barber’s A Hand of Bridge, Dominique in Amy Beach’s Cabildo, as well as music of R. Timothy Brady, David T. Little, and Beth Wiemann.
No stranger to the concert stage, Daniel has been a soloist with the Bach Society of Houston (St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion), the Mercury Baroque Ensemble, the Houston Choral Society (H.M.S. Pinafore), and the Houston Chamber Choir (St. John Passion, Mass in B Minor, Messiah). Other concerts include Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Mass in C, Mendelssohn’s St. Paul, and multiple performances of Handel’s Messiah. An experienced professional choral singer, Daniel has sung with the Grammy-nominated ensemble Conspirare under Craig Hella Johnson, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and the Houston Chamber Choir. He will tour Europe in the summer of 2008 with Conspirare, including performances at the International Symposium on Choral Music in Copenhagen, where Conspirare is the only featured group from the USA.
Daniel is in high demand as a church musician, worship leader, and Christian retreat and conference performer. In the summer of 2005, he was the Vocal Director and Worship Leader at Camp-of-the-Woods, a resort in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. At COTW, he managed a staff of professional singers and performed concerts for thousands of guests every week. He has collaborated as worship leader with speakers Brian McLaren, Alastair Begg, Lori Salierno, and Dallas Willard, and has performed at retreats and conferences across the country. He served for two years as the Director of Music at Houston’s historic Church of the Redeemer, and has held staff soloist positions in Houston at Christ Church Cathedral, St. Paul’s Methodist Church, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, as well as the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D. C.

Thanks for adding me! I am a songwriter and the songs on my page are songs that I have written or co-written that I/we are shopping to country singers who are looking for fresh songs for their next CD. I recently put up a new track called ‘Country Kisses’. So if you, or someone you know may be interested in recording any of the songs on my page, please contact me to discuss!
The pic of you was really awesome. Thank you so much for it. I am so glad that you are doing well and still doing amazing things (of course). God bless you in all that you do! Check out my page and you see little Aiden man. Love and miss you.
Blessings to you in the Christmas season. I hope you have it better than the little baby Jesus when he was born...
Family was under the thumb of the Roman government and had to be counted for their taxation system...
The travel to Joseph's home town of Bethlehem left Mary with no home to rest in... so Jesus was born in a barn... the best Joseph could find... Sure 3 kings showed up at some point and gave him some gifts.
But soon after that he had to flee with his family from King Herod... Who then killed a bunch of babies trying to kill him... and he began his life as a political refuge... in Egypt.
When his family finally felt it was safe to move back to Isreal... They moved into a hood with a rep. "Can anything good come out of Nazereth."
Merry Christmas... I hope you got it better than the baby Jesus...
