In September 2007 Daniel Coates was living in a tent on a property in rural Argentina thinking "I have enough songs for an album, how the hell am I going to record it?". Shortly after his wife fell ill with a severe allergy and could no longer camp so they moved to the nearest town. It was there Daniel met Marcelo "Chello" Da Chance, Multi-instrumentalist and producer from New York City who was also lost in small town Argentina.
The recording of "Connect" Daniel's debut Album started in December 2007 just 3 months after Daniel sat there with no electricity or running water thinking how the hell is this going to happen. This proved the lyrics "The Universe Gets High on giving you more than you ask" from the Song "the Universe Gets High" were absolutely true. The Universe was indeed conspiring to make Daniel's dreams come true and continue to do so to this day.
Daniel's wife got better as soon as they moved to town and shortly after fell pregnant with twins. They decided to head to the warm ocean of Brazil to be in the water for the pregnancy and for Daniel to enter a the vibrant Brasilian music scene with his "Connecting the world tour".
Teaming up with local musicians Marcelo Muska on the bass and Jaques Blasetti on the drums Daniel has started to make an impact on the local music scene in Southern Brazil that is very welcoming to gringos and international rock/ pop./
A move back to Australia is on the cards for 2010.
