De tempos em tempos surgem DJs que subitamente chamam a atenção. Atual residente do mundialmente aclamado Warung Beach Club e produtor e apresentador do Warung Waves, eleito o melhor programa de rádio do Brasil pelos leitores da revista DJ Mag, o catarinense Daniel Kuhnen é um deles.
Em 2006 Daniel atraiu as atenções da cena eletrônica ao ser anunciado como novo residente do Warung ao lado de alguns dos melhores e mais premiados DJs da atualidade. Foi indicado ao Cool Awards como DJ revelação no mesmo ano e ao prêmio internacional Ibiza DJ Awards em 2008.
Aquecer a pista tornou-se sua especialidade, sendo apontado por muitos como o melhor warm-up do país. "Daniel sabe preparar a pista como poucos", foi o que disse o argentino Deep Mariano após se apresentar com Daniel pela terceira vez. O DJ gaucho Fabricio Peçanha concorda com ele: "Ele é o DJ da nova geração, tem um feeling apuradíssimo. Apesar de pouco tempo nas pickups é um dj que toca música de gente grande. Não é a toa que é o DJ residente do Warung e responsável pelo melhor programa de rádio de Santa Catarina. Já tive a oportunidade de tocar diversas vezes com ele e sempre me surpreende."
Elogios como esses o levaram a dividir o line up com os principais DJs do mundo. Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Dubfire, Nick Warren, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Satoshi Tomiie, Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela, Martin Garcia, Phonique, 16 Bit Lolitas, Layo & Bushwacka, Luke Fair, Steve Angello, Miss Nine, Fatboy Slim, Deep Mariano, D-Nox & Beckers, King Roc, Ferry Corsten e Paul Woolford só para citar alguns.
A harmonia e sensibilidade de sua música são explicadas pela bagagem que Daniel trouxe para as pistas. Com formação erudita e tocando piano e contrabaixo, teve uma banda na década de 90. Hoje são os samplers, loops e edições originais que se unem para uma sonoridade única. Sem fórmulas prontas, seu som é uma fusão de elementos de diversos estilos, sempre na busca utópica da noite perfeita. Nas palavras de Gui Boratto, o maior produtor brasileiro de todos os tempos: "O Daniel tem um bom gosto único e sabe realmente levar a pista. É sempre um prazer tocar ao seu lado!"
Daniel também produz e apresenta o premiado Warung Waves, o maior programa de música eletrônica do sul do Brasil e considerado pela DJ Mag o melhor programa do gênero no país. É transmitido todos os fins de semana para Santa Catarina pela rede Atlântida FM e para Curitiba pela rádio Mundo Livre FM.
Além de seu compromisso com o Warung e suas turnês, Daniel se apresenta nos principais clubes e eventos do país. Creamfields, D-Edge, Clash, Pacha, Beehive, Vibe, Eon, Confraria das Artes, Ibiza, República de Madras, Kiwi, Chairs, Sunrise Salvador e Carnaval com Fatboy Slim são alguns por onde já passou.
