Danielle Todd took an interest in music at early age. Growing up in a musical family, she was constantly surrounded by recording, writing, and singing. Her father, Jamie Todd, continued to encourage her and bought Danielle her first guitar on her 13th birthday. With a few helpful tips from her father, Danielle learned how to play mostly on her own. Within a year, she was performing with Jamie in Guelph and the Niagara Region.
By luck, Danielle met local musician Ambre McLean in 2004. She began taking vocal lessons from Ambre who encouraged Danielle to learn piano and write her own music. Later that year, Danielle had mastered her playing skills and writing abilities. She began playing local shows with Ambre and then branched out on her own to play solo acts.
In 2006, Danielle participated in the Songbird Café at the River Run Centre alongside Keith Thompson, Laura Bird, David Gillis and others. She then became part of the Ambre McLean Band as the back-up vocalist, singing with the band for the “I Wonder If…” CD release tour.
In 2007, Danielle focused on her own writing abilities. She successfully completed a four song CD with all of the songs written, composed and performed by Danielle herself. Later that year, Danielle started another project with Ambre McLean and Anna Rogers - the “Sisters of Fate”. In this group, the three girls competed at the Havelock Jamboree competition winning a spot to play at the Marmora Festival. Danielle and the Sisters shared the stage with acts such as South Mountain featuring Steve Piticco, Dallas and Joanne Post.
In late 2008, Danielle had the pleasure of meeting Kenny MacLean (Platinum Blonde’s bass player). Kenny was blown away by Danielle's voice and performance and was eager to work with her and help her with her career. Sadly, Kenny passed away just a month after they met. Danielle had the honour of performing the song "Angels" at Kenny MacLean’s Tribute Show in Toronto at The Mod Club. She was lucky enough to share the stage with Platinum Blonde, The High Rollers, Glass Tiger, Gowan and many more amazing acts.
Danielle performed at the Relay for Life Fundraiser in Fergus, Ontario. Kevin Kelly from 106.1 Magic FM was so knocked out by her performance that, when Serena Ryder had to cancel her booking with the radio station, he invited Danielle to take her place as the feature performer for their Music for Christmas radio broadcast. It aired just prior to Christmas 2008. This radio program proved to be excellent promotion for the show that Danielle coordinated for Manhattan’s Jazz Club. Her performance was sold out!
In early May 2009, Danielle participated in the Big Break 3 radio contest sponsored by 104.7 Heart FM in Woodstock, Ontario where she won a $500 cash prize plus a professional recording of two of her original songs. The songs are included on a CD that is to be released by 104.7 to their affiliate stations across Canada.
Danielle is currently participating in a singer/songwriter contest through the Old Powerhouse in Hamilton Ontario. She has already won the first round and has qualified for the semi-finals. The finals take place September 9th 2009. Wish her luck. The grand prize is $1500!
She is currently in pre-production of her first full length CD targeted for release in early 2010. Crowds love Danielle’s enthusiastic performances. They are amazed by the beauty of her voice and the intricacies of her music.
