Welcome! My name's Daniel, and my story is a little different than most.
I've been making records for the last 8 years, and I've had some Indie success... Sold just over 50,000 CDs so far, and sung for nearly a million people in about 40 U.S. states and Canada. Been on TV and radio a bit. Just scored a film for the Fox show "On The Lot". And I've had more than 30 of my songs recorded by other indie artists. My CD "Water", which came out in August of 2006, is my eleventh release.
But numbers aside, the thing that's different is the KIND of music I make... and why I make it.
I definitely write my share of codependent love songs, country, rock, jazz, childrens' songs... but what I REALLY do is this: I write songs of kindness, of connection, of healing, of forgiveness, of peace. I write songs to bring down the imaginary walls we've erected between us. I make music for humanity.
It's a bit unconventional, perhaps, but much needed in this day and age, from my experience. I've worked with dozens of motivational speakers and authors, performed for business conferences, spiritual audiences, interfaith events... And as a volunteer, I visited the Astrodome with my guitar after Hurricane Katrina; I've sung at hundreds of nursing homes, prisons, hospitals, senior centers, schools, homeless shelters, and for organizations like Habitat For Humanity; and my songs have been featured at peace festivals, environmental events, animal-welfare events, and for youth groups and summer camps (including some hospital camps for kids with cancer)... I love singing to make people feel good, to inspire, to provoke thought, to open hearts. It's just what I was born to do.
And I don't think my modest 'success' has been an accident. In fact, I truly believe that the music I'm making, the message it carries, has a worldwide audience, and in fact serves an important purpose. It is my intention to make an album, or series of albums, that's released around the world, that's translated into many languages. It's my intention to write songs that are sung (by myself and by many others) when the world is crying, and when the world is celebrating. Songs that serve the mission of the United Nations, capture the spirit of the Olympics, and uplift humanity in ways which songs like "Imagine", "I Believe I Can Fly", and "What A Wonderful World" have been doing for years. It's a big vision, for sure. And I'm doing all I can to make it real.
So if you do listen to the songs we've uploaded here, you might notice that they say something a little different, and, more importantly, feel a little different. It was SO tempting to upload a goofy song, or a bitter song, or maybe even my personal favorite, my tribute to Jessica Alba :-) ... but I decided to share a few of my more thoughtful, positive songs, to give you a sense of what I'm all about. I hope you enjoy.
Thanks for visiting.... and come back soon!
Daniel

Hi Dan! I get to see you in a week. I am so excited. I will be at asilomar for part of both rsi and united weeks this year. This will be the first time since 2003 that I will be there. See you Sunday! Love ya buddy!
Beth, hi! Wow - I've just spend the most incredible 2.5 hours listening to, and singing with Daniel. I got to meet him today, and he sang a LOT. I loved it. What power he has in his voice - what a wonderful concert he performed. He is humble, he is amazingly talented, and his music definitely comes right from his very heart and soul! It's so obvious just to listen to it, but then to be able to watch him perform....well, it was just awesome, truly. I have been waiting for a long time to see Daniel, and he certainly did not disappoint. I'm grateful to have had this opportunity (and...we got to hear some "Waiting for Betsy" tunes). How fun that was. Lots of good laughs. I appreciate what you do in keeping up Daniel's page here. Please let him know he reached right in and tugged on my heart today. I will enjoy singing his compositions even more after today. All my best, Tim
Happy Birthday (no matter when it is). Love the new song! I'm glad you found your way home, and showed some of the rest of us too. Thanks for your presence in this world, you are a gift.
Hi Beth - thanks for the comment. I'm delighted that Daniel is coming to Springfield, and can't wait to hear and meet him. I'll be singing along, I'm sure - I have enjoyed One Power, Sacred Love and Different Me for some time now, and I've received Water and If You Make It So just recently, and, different as they are from the others, they are both awesome. I am blown away by the blues tune - God Makes Me Want To Sing...just brilliant! I've gotta get the tracks for that one too, so I can sing them at Church. Please tell Daniel his powerful messages do not get lost - my Unity congregation loves his music.
Looking forward to July! Yippee!! Best to you, Tim
Dear Daniel Nahmod: Thank you for YourFriendship. My eight-year-old-peace-activist son Axil's quest for World Peace Before 2021 is gaining momentum! I'm so proud of him. Please embrace him AND his song "World Peace Before 2021" which he sings beautifully. His performance can be seen on MySpace, his webpage www. worldpeacebefore2021. com and/or YouTube (by searching his name Axil Kollist.) It is my intention to post a new video of him singing his song every few months so people can watch his talent grow as impressively as the momentum for his quest! I'm sharing two photos with you. The first is of my son distributing his free world peace bumperstickers and the second photo is of him singing his song “World Peace Before 2021” at Maui's Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Day Festivities in January 08. By all means, email Axil if you’d like him to mail you one of his free “World Peace Before 2021” bumperstickers or if you’d like to invite him to sing for your function. His email address is worldpeacebefore2021@hawaii.rr.com .Very best regards, Axil Kollist’s mom
