DKO Records With a musical career spanning fifteen years and with six critically acclaimed CDs released my body of work continues to grow and evolve. As a band leader-guitarist with Nick Strange Band, writing songs for the duo Jess and Dan, and a solo performer creating The Big Blue Cosmic Project I find the thrill of making music more compelling with every day. In 1999 I founded DKO records in order to bring finished musical works to publication. It's been an honor and privilege to record and perform these songs with a number of incredibly talented musicians over the years and for their contributions I will be forever indebted and grateful. We hope that you may join us soon at a live performance, thanks so much. Daniel Orcutt The Big Blue Cosmic With the début CD "In the House of Blood and Gold" release in early 2011featuring textural music performed on guitar-harp (aka The Garp), electric cello, and guitar, The Big Blue Cosmic brings a new sound to the DKO catalog. Some songs are instrumental, others with vocal accompaniment, also occasional bass, percussion, and electronics. Depending on the venue The Big Blue Cosmic can be a solo (Daniel Orcutt), duo, or trio group. The live performances can range from trance like meditations to raucous jams. This is a truly unique musical entity. The Nick Strange Band Singer song writer meets jam band, with the emphasis on song writing: The Nick Strange Band is a multi-styled jamb-prog power trio rock band led by Daniel Orcutt with as much emphasis on song writing as on jamming. Their body of work starts in 1999 as a power trio with "Happy Accident" followed by "Surrounded by Each Other" 2001, "Ghost of Love" 2004, and "Stray Dog Serenades" 2006. Then in 2007 the group was joined by guest vocalist Jessica McCummins (Oberholtzer) for the acclaimed CD "Yesterday was Better". They've been compared to Jeff Buckley, Dave Matthews, it just depends which songs you catch. Jess and Dan Jess and Dan is another project for which Daniel Orcutt was the composer. They released a critically acclaimed CD in 2009. It featured the gifted vocalist Jessica McCummins. Though not currently a working entity, the Jess and Dan CD is still in print and both the Nick Strange Band, and The Big Blue Cosmic perform some of the songs in live shows.
