MySpace a place for friends

Dani Llamas (Jerez, Spain, 1980) has been writing songs for about 15 years now. Some of you may know the band he sings and plays guitar for: the GAS Drummers. “Sometimes you want to do something and don’t have to give explanations to anyone” -- He claims.

The truth is that with “Speaking thru the others”, his first solo album, is more than proven that his sonic and lyrical landscape is wider than what we are used in his rock band.

He said he’s written more than one hundred songs in the last two years, and some of them are meant to be part of another project, not just dumped into a drawer.

He was pushed by some friends and producer Paco Loco to start his own thing, and he got to open a gig for Ken Stringfellow(The Posies, Big Star, The Disciplines, R.E.M.). Once Dani finished his show Ken asked him: “The songs you have played, they are covers, innit?” Ken showed real interest in working with those songs in the future and that was another big push for convincing Dani to go on with this solo album.

In April 2009, Dani and Ken Stringfellow went to Paco Loco’s Studio to record the 12 songs in the album. Dani had the clear idea to make things easier, so he called his friends to play along in the album: Pakomoto and Rafa from GAS Drummers, Muni Camón, Chuchi Cabral from Leda 3, and Angel Figueroa from Paco Loco Trios. Paco Loco is also a very important key in this album as he’s Dani’s favourite producer and a good friend. He helped Dani to re-shape the ideas he recorded home and provided that final touch and instrumentation.

The album release is a co-production between the newborn Red Vanette Music (where Dani is co-owner himself) and the French label Rocksmyass, and is due to be available in September 2009 in France and October 2009 in Spain. There are some tour plans for this fall-winter in Spain and France.
