Dan Kanter is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, guitarist, performance coach from Toronto, Canada. He is currently the Musical Director and lead guitarist for teen phenom Justin Bieber. Dan has also directed and played in performances with Usher, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Ludacris, Boyz II Men, Selena Gomez, Mary J Blige, Sean Kingston, Busta Rhymes, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, and Fefe Dobson. He most recently co-produced Justin's platinum-selling album "My World Acoustic", co-directed and produced the Justin Bieber/Usher performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards, and was heavily featured in the major-motion picture 'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never 3D'. .. Dan began playing clubs with his band Hubris in his hometown of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at the age of 15. While attending Sir Robert Borden High School, Dan co-wrote a full-length musical titled "Destiny The Musical" which was performed at the school. Dan then headed to Toronto to study at York University. He received his Undergraduate degree in music from York University in Toronto and is presently pursuing a Masters in Musicology at York University's Graduate school under the supervision of Prof. Rob Bowman. .. Dan has been seen on major television shows all over the world with featured performances on such programs as Saturday Night Live, Oprah, American Idol, MTV VMA's, American Music Awards, Late Night With David Letterman, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Ellen, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Sharon Osbourne, The Teen Choice Awards, The Much Music Video Awards and countless others around the world. .. Some of Dan's most prestigious live engagements include performing the Canadian National Anthem at the NBA All-Star game, performing for the Obama's at the White House, and performing at Wembley Stadium in London, UK in front of over 90,000 people. .. In 2011 Dan was featured on camera as a guest mentor on X-Factor Germany, a finalist producer and mentor on YTVʼs "Next Star 4", and as a guest guru on Much Music's "Much: Discovered". .. Dan has been a proud supporter of Gibson Guitars for over 8 years. On tour with Justin, Dan has been using Zakk Wylde's (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society) signature guitar - a Gibson Les Paul Bullseye. Zakk is a huge supporter of Dan's and recently stated on his website that "Justin Bieber's guitarist DAN KANTER is the F'N MAN". Gibson is in the process of manufacturing a custom Les Paul for Dan that features a Canadian flag finish. .. Dan actively uses Twitter (twitter.com/dankanter).
