Dan McCoy is no stranger to the Texas Honky Tonks. As lead guitarist for the Clay Blaker Band for 12 years touring the great Southwest and Northern Europe in the 80-90’s. Now a solo artist Dan has performed at such notable venues a the Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas Music Festival, Anderson Fair, Nashville’s infamous Bluebird Café, the Frutigen Songwriter Festival (Switzerland) and the Matlock Festival (U.K) He has played such classic Honky Tonks as Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, The Broken Spoke in Austin and Gilley’s world known Honky Tonk. He is regular featured performer at New Braunfels’ Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Dan has worked on stages with and opened shows for George Strait, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Hank Thompson, The Texas Playboys, Asleep At the Wheel and many, many more.
Since 1998, Dan McCoy has been touring Europe extensively as a solo artist and has established himself as a hard working, dynamic, American original and is a favorite on the club and festival scene in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As well as performing his own original song, Dan draws from a well of musical influences and styles. He is an energetic and creative performer who loves to make good music, write good songs and meet good people.
His current CD “Rhythm of the Road” is filled with 13 Honky-Tonking, two stepping tunes either written or co-written by Dan. Three of the songs were co-written by nationally known Texas songwriter Robert Earl Keen, Jr
Als ein erfahrener Künstler und perfekter Gitarrist ist Dan McCoy ebenfalls bekannt als einer der führenden Sänger und Songwriter. Dan wurde in Oregon geboren und verbrachte seine ersten musikalischen Lebensjahre in Texas, Kalifornien, New Mexiko und Florida, bis er schließlich im Jahre 1975 seine neue Heimat in Texas fand. Dieses Album GEORG STRAIT 7 wurde zum Millionen Seller. Dan wurde für diese Erfolge mit Gold- und Platinalben ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 1995 wurde ebenfalls ein Song von Dan McCoy in George Strait‘s „STRAIT OUT OF THE BOX“ aufgenommen. Mit dieser 4 CD Box wurden alle Rekorde von Country-Box Sets geschlagen. Hierfür erhielt Dan McCoy mehrere goldene und Platin uszeichnungen. Einen weiteren Erfolg konnte er mit dem von Clay Blaker interpretierten Titel „A Honky Tonk Heart And A Hillbilly Soul“ verbuchen. Die Aufnahme platzierte sich sowohl in den Billboard als auch in den Cashbox Musik Industrie Charts. Dan McCoy trat u.a. auf bekannten Veranstaltungen wie dem Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas Musik Festival, Fruitigen Festival und dem Matlock Festival (U.K.) auf. Auch in populären Honky Tonks und Dance Halls wie Billy Bob‘s, Gruene Hall, The Honky Spoke und Gilley‘s ist er Zuhause. Er stand mit Künstlern wie George Strait, Garth Brooks, Jerry Jeff Walker, Randy Travis, Robert Earl Keen, Jr., Ricky Skaggs, Townes Van Zandt, The Texas Playboys, Merle Haggard, Rosanne Cash, Asleep At The Wheel, und Rodney Crowell....... auf der Bühne. In seiner Live Show wird deutlich, dass verschiedene musikalische Einflüsse und Stilrichtungen seine Songs prägen. Er ist ein kreativer Künstler, der es liebt, gute Songs zu schreiben, sie zu singen, ein Künstler, der den Kontakt zum Publikum liebt, jemand, der sich gern mit netten Leuten trifft.
