Dan Mock is recognized for his soulful voice, his connection with the blues, and for backing up fellow songsters around the globe with his inspiring performance. In 2009 alone, Dan Mock has shared the stage with such artists as Dave Bidini, Ron Sexsmith, Jill Barber, Deer Tick, Tom Wilson, Fred Eaglesmith, and the Skydiggers, and has appeared as a performer on “Q” with Jian Ghomeshi on CBC radio one. This year is off to a busy start performing and recording alongside critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Jerry Leger, sharing the stage with the likes of Jim Lauderdale and The Sadies, and backing up bands in a variety of musical genre. Dan Mock’s debut album entitled “Dan Mock & Take It Home” has a diverse mix of songs with influences ranging from B.B King, The Band, and The Staples Singers – also including a hip hop inspired tribute to gospel singer Mahalia Jackson. The album features rich vocal arrangements, an array of vintage keyboards, and rhythm and blues guitar. Some of Canada’s best are involved in the making of this Album including mixing engineer and producer Chris Stringer (Timber Timbre). - Dan Mock’s music has been credited on the films Sharkwater (Alliance Atlantis), Maneater, and The Human Number (Long Range Films). - Dan Mock composed the music for Kid Cosmic (Cheshire Unicorn) - a multimedia superhero sci-fi musical. - Dan has also performed in musicals, composed for popular web series Imaginary Bitches, and composed the Earthday TV spot (Global, CTV). -
