Well, as top notch as the Wallbirds are, that's how The Jack Flowers Scandal hit me! A White Stipes-ey/Black Keys-ey (and I HATE to make these Music Industry type, pigeon-holed comparisons, but it's just as a reference point to give all of you who foolishly never made it along to this magnificent night of music.
To give a better understanding the rootsy, oh-so-soulful, punk-bluesy duo based in bucolic Shropshire, started out their powerful half-hour or so set like Folk-Rockers on steroids and
slightly turned the intensity up with each successive song until it was all pounding drums (courtesy of Ed Gauden), hotwired electric guitar and the lead singer's emotion drenched vocals and impassioned lyrics! WOW!"
