Hailing from Hamtramck, Michigan, Danny “D” literally grew up in the center of Detroit Rock City. Playing his own music since a young age, Danny has matured with the inspiration of his Rock ’n’ Roll roots and the insight that comes from age and experience.
Danny D’s music has been a vital outlet for his personal expression since age seven, when he was diagnosed with Tourette ’s syndrome, which is characterized by involuntary movements and vocalizations. “It’s like having someone else in your body doing these things and you can’t control it,” explains Danny. Danny D’s singing and performing became more important when he noticed how his symptoms decreased dramatically, or did not appear at all. He became even more determined to be successful and to become the best musician he could be by taking piano and vocal lessons, music theory, and writing and recording his own songs.
After spending over 20 years creating a successful vending business here in Detroit, Danny has decided to share his inspiration once again, forming a band with some of Detroit’s talented performers and creating a new CD “One Sunny Day” – of recently-written songs.
Danny explains his reason for getting back into music professionally, “My goal is to win a Grammy and be a motivator for kids to encourage them to go for their dreams, regardless if they have Tourette’s or any other problems.”
Danny “D” has opened for some very big name artist’s such as:
Mitch Ryder, David Lee Roth, Bad Company, The Tubes, Air Supply, and for The Romantics (at the 2007 Summerfest in St. Clair). Further, for the past five years Danny “D” has made it a Thanksgiving tradition opening for Detroit’s own Uncle Kracker at the Emerald Theatre.
Danny’s latest venture is a Tribute to Rod Stewart Show. Not only does Danny look like Rod Stewart, he sounds just like him. His show has been getting rave reviews all over the metro area. Performing in private shows, nightclubs and even in the Michigan State Fair. This show is definitely qualified for Las Vegas. Danny most recently was on Fox 2 news promoting the Rod Stewart concert in Clarkston, MI. At the concert Rod Stewart himself called Danny up on stage with him to close out the show together!!
“I wouldn’t change my life one bit-I believe everything happens for a good reason. I know God has a purpose for me and I have a feeling its helping people through my music,” Danny D says with his usual excitement and passion that is so prominent in his words and music. “See you at the Grammy’s!”
