Oh- that's right... Band members!
Just good ol' me on piano, guitar, shamisen and vocals. Sometimes with backing tracks (think Ashley Simpson on SNL except that it sounds good and I don't f*ck up like she did :-X) And on special occasions, with a full rock band.
Past and present collaborations include: Angela Ai, Billy Anderson, Scott Aronow, Joe Beninati, Jr., Sofie Bjorck, Masayo Ishigure, Kris Landherr,
Jay Legaspi, Fitz Mangubat, Rawn Randall, John-Flor Sisante, Alex Tavares and Ward White.
Influences
Coldplay, Elvis Costello, Ani DiFranco, Ben Folds, Billy Joel, Keane, The Magnetic Fields, The Postal Service, R.E.M., Simon & Garfunkel, Southern All Stars and Spitz.
Sounds Like
If Ben Folds and The Postal Service had a baby boy and Erasure was the babysitter. If that s**t don't scare ya...

Danny Katz: folk-pop with an '80s twist. The bastard child of The Postal Service and Ben Folds, Katz has been writing, recording and performing original compositions on guitar, piano and voice for over 10 years. While his earliest influences were folk and rock groups like the Beatles and Peter, Paul and Mary, over the years they have grown to include artists as varied as Erasure, The Postal Service, Billy Joel, Coldplay, R.E.M., Ani Difranco and Spitz, a popular Japanese band.
"Strangely Beautiful" features the talents of many NYC musicians, including Jay Legaspi, and Soce - the Elemental Wizard. Much of the recording was done in Danny's home studio, with mixing by Aaron Nevezie and John Davis of The Bunker Studios in Brooklyn, where indie darlings Ambulance LTD recorded their most recent album.
NYC fans are fortunate to have many opportunities to see Danny's live performances (often up to 15 a month), where he entertains with quirky, original material that covers topics as varied as his bizarre internet dating experiences, to his residency in a former brothel house. He further expounds on how both create challenges in finding and keeping true love in the city that never sleeps.
He also keeps his performance calendar unpredictable with his unique "theme" concerts - this year alone, he will produce an '80s and '90s live band karaoke night, a Transformers Tribute Night, two cabarets, an evening Japanese pop music covers and will play shamisen (Japanese lute) at several Japanese Cherry Blossom festivals in the NY/Metropolitan area this spring.
In support of "Strangely Beautiful," Danny is currently planning a US tour. If you'd like to have him perform where you live, please send him a note.
Danny's now offering piano and guitar lessons in the tri-state area. Book him before he starts touring :-)

Ohayoo Danny-san, Hey, thanks for checking out the old-school twang going on over here. Keep up the great energy and music! Love it! (Again, your shamisen photos are awesome). Have a great time in Japan, and see you in Seattle? Who knows what kind of bastard children occur when tsugaru meets naga-uta. Aaron (aka Robert) P.S. See my Nihon Ongaku section for a wild collection of artists using Japanese traditional instruments, especially tsugaru...
