CD REVIEWS SHAKE MAGAZINE Nashville Fall 2009 Its beginning to look and sound like there's nothing Danny Ramsey can't do on guitar. This new CD shows off his shredding and ballistic firepower more then ever before. Pretty much a one man group. Ramsey hunkers down inside of his celebrated "Little Hollywood Studio" in Nashville (where more great artists then you can count recorded their albums) and builds up these super charged sonic manifestos. Danny plays the bass, keyboards and drums too. But it's clear that he's most impressive on the six string axe. There are many sides to this guitarists stylistic tastes. Most really good musicians will tell you they like all kinds of music. Ramsey has carved out a nice niche for himself as a maker of television and movie soundtracks. He's had an account with HBO for years. So it's obviously in his best interest to cover a broad spectrum of sonic approaches for different moods and situations. But when Danny makes a CD of his own he choses one stylistic approach as the main strain for that album. This time out, on "Hot Guitar", it's just what the tittle implies. He's rocking balls-out! Although everything on this CD is "turned up to eleven" it is an all instrumental album. So conceivably this music would work in the high powered section of a movie. Warning: this is not an album for relaxation. It would be good for cruising down the highway. There's some serious electric guitar ass-kicking going on here.
