Dolly is listed on her paperwork as a pitbull/lab mix, though we believe she is a lab/hound mix. Dolly was rescued from an animal hoarder who posed as an animal shelter and had 130 dogs in her home. The dogs were kept in cages stacked on top of one another with no barriers in between the cages. Dolly was found with her pups, and was likely kept in the basement because news reports stated that is where the dogs with pups were kept. We don't know how long Dolly was held captive in that state, but it is likely she was one of the dogs sent up from Virgina 2 years previous. After Dolly's rescue, she was held as evidence for the case for 5 more months and was one of the last dogs to be adopted. Dolly is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. Though she is still timid around visiters, she is very playful with our other dogs and won't leave Deb's side. She LOVES Cheese and She, after 2 years of work, will finally SIT on command!!!
Danny and Dolly are Heros!!!
In 2007, two men tried breaking into our house one night through a living room window, where our two girls had fallen a sleep watching TV. We were in a room off of the living room with the doors closed with head-phones on recording music. We never heard a thing. Dolly started ramming her body on the door, barking. We had never seen her like this and we thought maybe she needed had to go potty really bad. Deb took Dolly out and on the back porch, Deb saw the two men standing in the yard behind us. Dolly stood pointed toward them completely in guard stance next to Deb. Deb stared at the men, not thinking anything, but did get a good look at them. Then the men left the yard and walked down the street.
When the men were out of sight, Dolly yanked the leash out of Deb's hand and ran TO THE WINDOW and SAT with an intense look on her face while looking at me, right where the men were trying to break in. Deb kept telling Dolly to go potty..lol Then Dolly dragged Deb to the gate where the men had broken it to get in the yard and she SAT again with that intense look at Deb. Dolly was trying to tell Deb something, though Deb didn't get it. Deb still told her to go potty, then Dolly walked around the gate and stepped on the gate latch on the ground, jingling it, a few times. Greg had done yard work that afternoon, Deb thought maybe Greg had accidently broke it and forgot to tell her. Dolly wouldn't go potty, so Deb went back in the house and said to Greg that he should have told her, cause the dogs could get out of the yard. Greg said, he didn't do it and at that point we realized something was wrong. We got the flash light and ran outside and we found the pry marks all around on the windows frame and broken house siding, as well as the broken gate and the stick the men used.
When we went back in the house, Danny was standing at the window from the inside guarding! and the blinds were all dishieveled. We figured that is why the men were in the neighbors yard by the time Deb got outside...Danny had scared them first!! The police came and said, "Our Dogs Are Heros!!!" We think so!!
Danny is an English Lab/American Staffordshire Mix and because of his size, and because he is a pitbull, people cross the street to avoid us when we go for a walk. Danny was adopted from an animal shelter. He was previously abused. The end of his tail is broken and he has bad back knees. When we first got him, if we raised our arm to reach a glass from the cupboard, he would fall down to the ground thinking we were going to hit him. It took a long time, till he realized we would never hit him. He was considered a "bring back" to the shelter and was set to be "put down" at the end of the week. He was brought back because at one home there was an elderly person and they felt he was too hyper. (He was a puppy) At the other home, he stole food off the table, and got into the trash. He still does steal food off the table and gets into the trash, but those issues are nothing compared to how smart he is and the gentleness of this dog! We are considering training Danny to be a therapy dog as we believe he is smart, loving, and gentle enough to take on such a task. Danny has delveloped a beautiful bond with our family and especially Greg that is filled with Love and highly unusual. As you can see in the photo on this page, "Ban BSL" in the other column, Danny is giving Greg a hug on command, but there is no doubt of the love Danny shows for Greg. All dog barking, sniffing and Grumpf sounds is Danny in the recordings you hear on this page. Danny does really well of speaking and making his sounds on command. If we are recording and we don't include him, he includes himself. He loves the microphone..lol
The lack of effective ANIMAL PROTECTION in Spain is the driving force behind this awareness campaign.
Through the compassionate efforts of animal advocates, activists and members of the public world wide, I truly believe we can help to gain legal justice for Regina and support the courageous shelter staff who are protecting the remaining dogs in their care.

Joey in a Boxer/Pitbull Terrier mix. He was taken away from his mother by his previous owner and starved. We got him when he was 3 weeks old. We were at a July 4th picnic at the lake and we saw a man teaching his puppy pitbull to be agressive at children and praising the dog when the dog did it. We went and talked to the man and tried to adopt and then even buy that puppy from him. He wouldn't sell it to us, but said he had more puppies at home for $200. each. We met him at a mall and sure enough there were two more puppies. One plump puppy that the man said was being kept with a female dog, but not the mom, and that the mom was given away. Then there was the other pup, Joey, that could hardly walk or raise his head, there was no plump belly either. Deb picked up the pup and asked it if he would like to come home with us, and the pup licked Deb. So that was how we got Joey. We tried to get both and then we would find a home for one pup, but we didn't have any more money and the guy wouldn't budge. Joey is now a very active 1 year old pup. He is very mischievious and wants all the attention. He LOVES toys and has chewed through many of them..lol He copys Danny in everything and but puts a puppy twist on it. He is a very goofy dog and he makes us laugh with his expressions and behavior. Joey is very sweet, smart, and strong dog, and he loves to cuddle. Right now he is at that age where he thinks he doesn't have to listen to us and he tests us regularly. He has been our challenging dog of the 3, though we love him dearly. One challenge is even though he has had regular baths since a pup, he fears and hates water with a passion, wriggles his body crazily when we put him in water and he screams like a human when we put the other dogs in the tub. We have tried everything from watching the other dogs take a bath, using 1-in of water, to sponge baths, treats, and toys. The other challange is he has always been aggressive with food, not with humans, but to the other dogs, so that too has become a challenge. We feed him apart from the other dogs now, and just to be on the safe side, we don't allow kids near him when he eats. Periodically, we try to feed him with the other dogs on the opposite side of the room, and it seems to be working. Any suggestions for things for us to try would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!The other things are all typical puppy stuff, and we know those things will pass eventually, we are very consistant with him and we have made great strides.
Nice to have been invited to your friend's list. I'm a huge animal lover and especially Dogs (have two that I rescued from shelters). Hope you're having a great weekend!
You know, we put special little notes in our music, that only you could possibly hear! Well, we can hear them too, so I guess we're part doggy as well then. Anyway, it's been a hard day's night, and we've been working...you guessed it...
like a dog!
Woof!
We just counted how many album we have, it's enough to make us all dog-tired alright...
I thought it was 53. It's actually 63.
Yep. If that ain't one to stand on the porch holding onto the straps of my overalls in quite a self-satisfied fashion like you do when you done something to be real proud of.
Since 1993, which is when we began making records... it's amounted to 63 albums,
Hey guys! Thanks for the kind words. Very cool that you have a site on MySpace. I'm sure your parents Greg n Deb approve! Thanks again...:) Mitch'n'Amy
