About me:
Danny Rhodes lives in the beautiful city of Canterbury UK. He has published stories in the UK and the US. 'Soldier Boy' is his second novel. 'Asboville' was his first novel. - Praise for 'Asboville' - 'An excellent debut novel, definitely in my top ten of the year' - Scott Pack, The Bookseller 'A tender take on modern youth. Rhodes dramatises their sense of exclusion with freshness and insight' - The Guardian 'Subject and setting imply a Loach-like bleakness, but this finely crafted and often lyrical debut novel offers far more than hoodie-hugging sympathy or sink-estate despair. JB, with his great but baffled expectations, shakes hands across time with Dickens' Pip. Let's have a sequel soonish.' Boyd Tonkin - The Independent 'Rhodes asks important questions about social justice, but also tells a compellingly human story. An impressive debut' - The New Statesman

Washington Transcripts (What is really being said in DC)

Bill O'Reilly is right, there maybe homeless veterans out there but as he said they are were ever they are because of addiction and mental illness, not because of my mission to free us all from extremists. Not everyone is tough enough to cut it in my military. Am I right? Am I right? Course I am. I am still President and always right.

Hey. Litzine Beat the Dust is constantly on the look-out for inventive, hard-hitting, thought-provoking poetry and stories, and is particularly interested in writing that involves some kind of contradiction or breaks a rule in some way. We want to hear from writers with 'kiss my shades!' attitude who like to take risks with their work. If that's you, click here for details on how and where to send your work. You'll be joining the likes of Dan Fante, Tony O'Neill, Mark SaFranko and a host of other cutting edge writers. Thanks for sharing your space with Beat the Dust.

Washington Transcripts (What is really being said in DC)

We don’t create homeless veterans, they do. One in four homeless is a veteran they say, most of them Vietnamers. Look at the Vice President and myself we are Vietnam era. We picked ourselves up by the boots and are now shinning beacons of what these homeless vets can do, beacons standing on a high hill of compassionate conservatism.

'City Smells' is a new literary project set up by the Edit Red Writing Community.

We are running three writing competitions, Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry, all with the theme 'City Smells. The winners of each of these competitions will win $100. But more than this, we will take the best work from each competition and compile a paperback 'City Smells' anthology. The writers who make it into the 'City Smells' anthology will each receive free copies of the book and be paid a royalty in book sales.

To submit to these competition and stand a chance of being published in the 'City Smells' book you must be a member of Edit Red, as the submission process is automated. Joining Edit Red and entering these competitions is 100% free. If you make it into the book, we will pay royalties based on book sales.

Edit Red has existed for many years and was created and is still managed today by non-fiction author Alan Emmins, creative writing teacher Chris Lee Ramsden and literary reviewer Sean Merrigan.

If you are not already a member, we hope you will join and take part in this great literary event. Sign up here for free!

Regards
Alan, Sean and Chris
