I've been playing guitar and bass since the age of 14, drums since 12, and have played in various bands (some more short-lived than others) including : Conviction, Octopussy, Sound-Edge, Fraggle Rock, The Steamin' Turds, Animal Groove, The Cryogenics, The Dan Ogus Quartet, For Folk's Sake, Deep Tan, Liquid Crowbar.
I play "Heavy Wood" for acoustic guitar & voice - how many gigs could you go to and hear versions of songs by : Tom Petty, Hüsker Dü, Richard Thompson, Led Zeppelin, The Band, Manic Street Preachers, Big Star, Kirsty MacColl, Bryan Adams, Ultravox, Fairport Convention, Alison Krauss, Asia, Dr Hook, Undertones, Queen, and many more ? Basically - lots of songs I like ; a session inside my own personal radio station.
In 1997 I recorded "The Too Late for Liquid E.P.", an E.P. of original material, playing all the instruments myself. This got a rave review from Greg Watkins in Venue magazine (Portsmouth), and is to be belatedly prepared for release sometime in 2007 to commemorate its 10th anniversary (Update : this has been delayed due to procrastination and it nearly being the end of 2007, so some time in 2008 !)

I was until recently M.C. at the Railway Folk Club in Portsmouth in its current incarnation which re-started after a 4 year hiatus. I was also M.C. at the Seventh Annual Southsea Folk Roots & Blues Festival (2007) ; performers included Jackie Leven, Steve Gibbons, Memo Gonzalez, and Colvin Quarmby (full details found @ www.southseafolkfestival.co.uk)
I play a Yamaha APX electro-acoustic guitar on stage usually through the house PA, a Fender F15 acoustic (which is older than I am !), a Parker P36 (Tele-style with under-bridge piezo) with Fender Deluxe 85 amp, and my latest toy - a Roland Microcube (excellent !) at home and occasionally for recording, Pearl BLX drums, Paiste cymbals, and whatever basses I can get my hands on.
Music : I love it all ; I'm basically a rock musician who's into folk, blues and jazz (and some blatant pop !) but if someone forced me to name my 3 favourite bands I would probably say Fairport Convention, Yes, and The Beach Boys.
