Dan Ormsby on guitar and vocals, and sometimes Sam Clarke on guitar at live shows.
Influences
Loners : JAKE THACKRAY (for writing The Lodger, amongst countless other lyrical classics), BECK (for One Foot In The Grave and Mutations, mainly), TOM WAITS (I wish I could play the piano), ELLIOTT SMITH (I cried when you died (I think)), JEFF BUCKLEY (I didn't cry when you died, but thats because I didn't know who you were at the time), BEN LEE (Grandpaw Would is the perfect album), LAURA HOCKING (for being better than me).
Loners with a band : ROBERT POLLARD (the real hit factory), KURT COBAIN (he went for the wrong girls too), STEPHEN MALKMUS (the king of sensible nonsense), PAUL WESTERBERG (for being occasionally amazing yet invariably imperfect), JEFF MANGUM (for being brilliant for a year then saying "fuck off" to the world), GEOFF FARINA (I hereby swear to devote my life to making Karate more widely appreciated), BILLY CORGAN (I think), CRISPIN HUNT (why did you give up?!), WAYNE COYNE and STEVEN DROZD (and probably Michael Ivins too), all of REM and FUGAZI (the best two bands ever).
Disclaimer : I like lots of other music too!

Hello my name is Dan, pleased to meet you. I spent a week on my own in a chalet on the Norfolk coast in September 2008 with an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, a micro-Korg, an AKG C1000 microphone, and a digital 8-track recorder. I worked out how to record to 4 tracks. I watched a lot of Sky Sports News and Gilmore Girls, ate a lot of Nik Naks, did around 25 crosswords, and read the first three parts of Crime and Punishment. I didn't use the micro-Korg on any of the songs, though I did spend an hour or so making sounds like I was in outer space. I wasn't in outer space, I was in Norfolk. Four of these songs are mine, Jewel Box is by Jeff Buckley, and Drinkers Peace is by Guided By Voices. I have since finished Crime and Punishment. It was good.
It is now January 2009 and I am logging in to the page for the first time in ages. I have moved back to Brighton, and will maybe record something new soon. I wouldn't say I am experiencing writer's block right now, more writer's apathy. My band 4 or 5 Magicians has its album out soon so I guess I have been focusing on that. I need some inspiration in my life. Or maybe I just need to shut up and write some songs. Either way it will happen sooner or later, just sit tight and enjoy these as much as you can for the time being, or if you like loud music too then go listen to my band if you haven't already, we're totally rad.
