Dan was Born in Raanana, Israel in 1983 and at age 11 began playing the drums. He studied with the finest drum instructors Israel has to offer, such as Arale Kaminsky, Rony Holan and Eitan Itskowitz.
During his musical studies at Metro-West High School he continued to study jazz and participated in workshops with Amit Golan, Arnie Laurence, Omer Avital, Orpheus Mamelo Gaitanopoulos and many others. In 1999 Dan won the first prize in the Israeli Jazz Performance Competition with his sextet.
Right after he graduated from high school he joined the army, where he was selected to serve as an “Outstanding Musician” and was chosen to play drums for the Air Force Band. During the 3 years in the army Dan managed to complete a full program at the Rimon School of Jazz, majoring in jazz performance.
In 2003, he won the Rimon Jazz Competition and was chosen to represent the school at the IASJ meeting in Freiburg, Germany. During his studies at Rimon Dan performed with International visiting artists, such as, Airto Moreira, Frank Gambale and more.
Dan has performed with many of the finest jazz musicians and bands in Israel, including the Tel-Aviv Jazz Big Band, Israeli Kibbutz Orchestra, and the Holon Jazz Big Band.
In 2006, after four months of Portugues lessons, Dan traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and studied drumset and percussion with the most amazing musicians, such as Jorginho do Pandeiro, his son Celsinho Silva, Marcos Suzano, Marcio Bahia, Paulinho Braga and more.
After being awarded the Berklee World Scholarship Tour Dan moved to Boston and began his studies at Berklee College of Music, majoring in jazz performance. At Berklee Dan has studied with great persons and musicians, such as, Hal Crook, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jon Hazilla, Dave Dicenso, Francisco Mela, Mark Walker, Rick Considine, Dave Samuels, George Garzone, and Joe Lovano.
Dan’s recent performences include venues such as, Blue Note Jazz Club NYC, Red Sea Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival, BeanTown Jazz Festival, Trumpets Jazz Club NJ, Regattabar Jazz Club, Ryles Jazz Club and more.
