Influences
My influences as a songwriter are: Neil Young, Roger Waters, Bob Marley, Blind Willie Mctell, Joni Mitchell, Ozzy(Sabbath days), JT, Son House, Robert Johnson, Dylan!?!?!, Page and Plant, Bernie Taupin, Jerry and Robert Hunter, Tool, Tom Waits, Paul Simon's Rhythm of The Saints, and.......Women!
My musical influences are: Dorian Heartsong, Mike Powers, Alex Howland, Pink Floyd, Neil, Led Zeppelin, Wes Wehmiller, Les Hall, Herbie Hancock, Tool, Jaco Pastorius, The Wailers, Jerry Douglas, Tony Rice, Bill Frisell, Beatles, Blind Willie Mctell, the Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Jane's Addiction, Alpha Ya-ya Diallo, Manu D'bango, Steve Gadd, Frank Zappa, and that mexican cat with no arms who plays the guitar with his feet!!!
Dan Rockett’s need to explore music as a child was a natural obsession. From Neil Young’s “Sugar Mountain” to The Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever”, he was engrossed by the powerful combination of lyric and melody. He began playing drums when he was seven, and then later switched to guitar in high school. While at Boston College, earning degrees in Literature, Secondary Education, Philosophy, and Theology, Dan’s true passion became apparent as he began writing his own songs.
As a respected figure in the Boston music scene, he would find himself sharing the stage with some of his favorite artists such as, Los Lobos, The Flaming Lips, Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Al Kooper, G. Love, Medeski Martin and Wood, Stevie Nicks…etc. He would even front an All Star Tribute to Bob Marley, which performed three very special sold out shows. With Dan on lead vocals the band also included the legendary jazz drummer Bob Moses, Guitarists Vernon Reid of Living Colour and Eric Krasno of Soulive, bassist Keith Moseley of The String Cheese Incident, and B-3 player Paul Wollstencroft of Melvin Sparks’ band.
Eventually, Dan moved to Los Angeles and released his Independent album, What I’ve Seen. His talent as a songwriter would attract the attention of legendary producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Jane’s Addiction). Mr. Ezrin took Dan under his wing and helped him to hone his skills as a writer and lyricist. He taught Dan the importance and weight of each word in good songwriting. Dan’s musical talents would also find him scoring films for Producer/Director Eric Eisner, and playing guitar on the Macy Gray album, Big, produced by Justin Timberlake and Will.i.am. Dan also had the honor of writing, performing, and producing the track “Sometimes I Cry”, on the Tupac Shakur album, The Rose That Grew From Concrete.
In 2008, Dan Rockett's talents were showcased on major network TV. CBS's Numbers featured two of Dan Rockett's songs; Prodigal Son on the "Money For Nothing" episode and "Life Is A Dream (Ryan's Song)"on the "Guilt Trip" episode.
With over 60 new songs, he would choose 12 to become the foundation of his new Rock and Roll concept album, Songs From The Black Market. Employing the help of producer Chuck Reed, Dan called on his friends to help him record this amazing work of art, and they answered with vigor. The studio band consists of: Deantoni Parks(The Mars Volta, Kudu) - Drums / Dan Rothchild(Beck, Fiona Apple) - Bass / Les Hall(Trey Anastasio, Crossfade) - Keys and various noises / Avi Sills(Naked Rhythm)-Percussion / Alan Sovory(Lenny Kravitz)-Background Vox / Kandace Lindsey(Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez)-Background Vox / Adrienne Woods(Kanye West)-Cello / Chris Woods(Beck,Christina Aguilera)-Violin / Bob “Boo” Bernstein(Freddie Fender) - Pedal Steel Guitar / Eddie Baytos(Cesar Rosas, The Neville Bros.)- Accordian.
With this new album, and the three greatest musicians he knows (Dorian Heartsong –Drums/ Mark Brunner- Bass / Alex Howland- B-3, Piano, and mono synths), Dan Rockett is bringing his very special brand of Rock and Roll to fans everywhere.

I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks

Ten DANK things you can do to help legalize marijuana (in no particular order).<br /><br />1. Write a letter to a policy maker. This can be local, state or federal level-if we all take the time to do this it makes a huge difference. Take a few minutes to an hour to draft a letter-then once a week take five minutes-send it to a different official, when there is a bill related to marijuana you will have a good base. DANK recommends using a government website or visiting http://www.makepotlegal555.org to find address information for legislators.<br /><br />2. Encourage others to write their legislators-each time you write to one, pass the name and address around to your like minded friends-get them writing in, too. <br /><br />3. Volunteer for a Pro-Cannabis event! Look on online, maybe there is one in your area-there are several on the DANKinfo website and at least once volunteer for Seattle Hempfest-you will be impacted in unimaginable ways. For more info: http://hempfest.org/drupal/Volunteers<br /><br />4. Attend a Pro-Cannabis event! Bring your friends and family members-especially those that would like to be better educated on the drug war and related issues. See the DANKinfo website for a list and once again, I must say (maybe I am biased) at least once in your life attend Seattle Hempfest-the third week of August. See http://www.hempfest.org/drupal for more info. Another good choice is the Global Marijuana March (www.globalmarijuanamarch.org). Check the website for it-there is likely a march planned near you—if not see #9<br /><br />5. Support organizations such as LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php), where the proponents of changing the law are those whom have enforced it and seen the failures first hand. Methods of support include donating, volunteering, passing out fliers, attending events, passing on info, re-posting MySpace bulletins, etc.<br /><br />6. Donate money to those organizations who are influencing policy change-great examples are NORML (www.norml.org),
