Bio
.. Dan Sowerby performs a set of deep felt blues and his own original material, which draws on these vibes, melding them into a sound of his own. His slick slide guitar resonates that soulful blues sound; and intricately played folkier tunes, combine his influences, resulting in an intimate and exciting set of feeling songs which grip you with the passion he puts into his performance. .. Before making a name for himself on the blues circuit Dan played guitar for many other bands. Some unusual highlights include gigs with soul legends The Drifters and playing in bands supporting acts including Katie Melua and The Manfreds. But now, fed up of playing for other people, Dan is following his own true passion; the blues. .. For his band performances Dan is joined on stage by Matt Paull on double bass and Ben Coley on drums. See the photos page for pics of the guys in action! .. .. .. On Dan's opening show for Jon Amor:.. .. .. "Dan Sowerby impressed with a scintillating slide guitar warm up and is definitely one to watch" .. .. Gareth Hayes - .. Blues Matters Magazine.. .. .. On Dan's album with The Fortunate Three:.. .. .. "I like the Rory G feel on 'Catfish Blues' which is as elemental a blues number as they could pick, but performed with such feel the listener just surrenders. The Dan Sowerby Band were recently finalists in The New Brunswick Battle Of The Blues. Here's a review for their winning performance at the southern heat:
“A different cup of tea was Dan Sowerby. An accomplished slide player (resonator and
Strat) he is also a fine singer and did what was later described as an effortless set,
most of the time with a smile on his face. He has an open personality that he is able to
project and daringly even did an instrumental piece (Voodoo Slide?) that was
delightful. Some of his guitar work is intricate in the extreme. With an unnamed (stand-
up) bass player and drummer the set was hugely impressive and even included some
'bring down the volume' quiet bits that added hugely to the dynamic effect.”
On Dan's opening show for Jon Amor:
"Dan Sowerby impressed with a scintillating slide guitar warm up and is definitely one to watch"
On Dan's album with The Fortunate Three:
"I like the Rory G feel on ‘Catfish Blues’ which is as elemental a blues number as they could pick, but performed with such feel the listener just surrenders. A classy debut, with better to come"
