I guess that after 15 years of songwriting and the constant need to explain to people what kind of music i write, I will just have to say that I am a singer/songwriter. I started out playing piano at 6 and my dad took me under his wing at about age 12 to show me some bass licks and some guitar rhythm. He and I played a few shows together and sometimes incorporated the whole family to perform as a band. I probably wrote my first songs at about age 3, as I mimicked different sounds, especially big band horn sections, but to be honest, I wrote my first song at age 13 while learning the art of guitar picking. I honed the craft early on in my upstairs bedroom away from the constant struggles that my teenage years brought me. I wrote about everything that I experienced and to this day, I still do! Now, time and again, I will avoid writing about my self to tell a different story. A story of others and there experiences. I am very fortunate to be able to play out live 3-6 times a month around New England with a real concentration on the Seacoast of New Hampshire. This place is so vibrant with life and different people from all around the world that I get to rub shoulders with many walks of life. My songs reflect the conversations and the energy they bring me. If I could write one song that would illustrate me as an artist, it would probably be an outlaw country song in the taste of Johnny Cash. A little bluesy, a lot of acoustics, and some quick, floor stoppin' down beats. This would be the backdrop for a story of family, friends, farming, fair-ladies, fiends, forever and just plain fun. Enjoy folks!
Hello there Dan! It's great to hear from you. I DO have more, and I do have a few of your sitting at the Stowe Vermont Lodge. I didn't really get a chance to tell you how much I enjoyed just sitting there soaking up the good sounds. I like your style a lot. I'll be in touch with you and have those photos to share with you... ~Melissa
