I'm a Jazz pianist from Burton-on-Trent, and now living in Manchester. Love music, and it's the only thing I've ever been any good at, so there were no hard career decisions to be made!
I studied Classical piano in Birmingham for 4 years, and gradually got into Jazz while I was there. I took some lessons there with Liam Noble and Hans Koller.
I went to Brussels in 2003 to do a Masters in Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels. I had 2 great teachers: Diederik Wissels and Nathalie Loriers. They're also two of my favourite musicians. Check them out!
Brussels was great...still one of my favourite places to hang out.
Since I've been here in Manchester, I have been playing with various people on the scene doing various gigs including Manchester and Southport Jazz festivals
I play in TRIO WHACKABAS along with Gavin Barras and Jonas Backman. You can listen to some tracks from our first CD, "Live at Zeffirelli's" on here.
I also play in duo with Mike Hall, and in quartet with Mike, Steve Berry, and Eryl Roberts.
I play a lot as a "sideman", and have accompanied amongst others, Bobby Wellins, Alan Barnes, Tim Garland, Jiggs Whigham, Gilad Atzmon, Tina May, Harry Beckett, and Lee Gibson. I have recently won 1st prize in the Nottingham National Jazz Piano Competition.
