A sprinkle of Sarah McLachlan, with a bit of Tori Amos, and a dash of old-school Carol King... although personally, I think I sound like me (bah hah!)
Born and raised on Canada's West Coast, Danya started her musical training on the piano at 5 years old by a former student of the legendary Glenn Gould. She studied classical music for 12 years, completing her ARCT with the Royal Conservatory of Music. When in highschool , she joined the jazz and concert groups, and developed a deep love for jazz. She also learned the french horn, oboe, and pretty much anything brass. She won numerous soloist awards, and scholarships to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. She worked on a diploma in Business and then went to Boston to study Contemporary Writing and Production. Since then, she has re-located to Quebec, "La Belle Province", where she played with rock band, Still Brother. She recently left the group in pursuits of more creative roles as a Musical Director and Composer/Arranger. Her current projects are working with a fabulous string quartet in an effort to push the barriers between classical, jazz, and modern sounds, as well as being a pianist for other artists. Life is good!
