Sounds Like
If you took Lou Reed, Jimmie Vaughan, Tom Waits, Mofro, Jack Johnson, Nick Drake, Sam Baker, mixed em all up and took away most of their talent, you'd be getting close......
Been flying helicopters for some 25 years now...bush pilot, air ambulance, offshore oil support, you name it! Presently flying and surfing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I started writing my own songs and posting them for friends and family, but my soundclick site started averaging some 50 downloads a month. I was as suprised as anyone that there were people out there digging my tunes so I've made them available to anybody that'd care to listen. My songs are upbeat and fun for the most part, a reflection of my state of mind at any given moment....blues-based funky folk-rock, recorded with a 4-track recorder in my basement, all with a Telecaster into a Deluxe Reverb. I like my music raw and uncluttered, with lots of open space and contrast, and to be honest, my songs would be even simpler if I could manage it.
Hope you like them! To get to my CD on iTunes, click on the album cover below...
Nice stuff Darcy. Thanks for finding IndieCan Radio. We have team members in Halifax and we love the scene out there. You really do have a funky groove. Have you ever heard of Son of Dave? Check him out on the net or you'll find him in one of out 6 or 7 most recent shows. You'll find lots of differences but some similarities too.
This week on IndieCan radio we have some schoolin' from Peter Spellman of Berklee College of Music, great artists from coast to coast. If you like it, please tell you're friends. We have this crazy idea that in 2009 we can reach out to 1 Million Canadian indie music fans around the world.
