We tend to get lumped into the Folk/Roots category which is just as likely because the presentation of our music and that of fellow guildians is generally acoustic
Heroes
This list would be impossibly long. Writers who use their craft to speak for those less articulate or empowered. Players who craft beautiful sounds with their voices or instruments and who play with heart and generosity.
About me:
Actually I'm a 'we' and we're not even close to 80 years old. In fact we're 2 and a bit years old.
We are a couple of singer/songwriters who have initiated a network for people who write music, wish to perform original material, wish to find someone to perform their material, seek a word smith to put lyrics to their tunes or a tunesmith to put melodies to their lyrics.
We organise regular gatherings for people to 'showcase' their material and network with other musicians and writers. We offer a regular update about what's going on for regular participants - like a member's gig guide, as well as organising regular guest artists to share their material and discuss their writing and providing the occasional opportunity for writers to launch recordings.
Who I'd like to meet: We're simply interested in meeting other musicians and the more we encounter the more music we end up playing and the more our creative output increases whether that be via arranging, collaborating with others or generating new songs.
Whoa! Geez, some days you're the songwriter, some days the star performer. N'er the two shall meet. Thanks for my little chance at the Darebin Songwriter's Award this year, even though my shot was in the foot, I still enjoyed being part of it all. Love, Heidi
